Broken wine programs after remaster

#1 Post by humblesoul »

lupu 528 libre pfix=ram boot

Installed latest wine, zenity and cab

Installed .net framework 2 via winetricks and some windows freeware

Run installed freeware no problem

Remaster puppy live cd copying root and etc

Boot new iso and 3 out of 6 windows programs fail to run, one does nothing, one launches a blank window where previously it had a gui requiring winetricks task manager end task to close and one reports error.

Any ideas? Are there any other files or folders that should be copied or edited before creating new iso?

Add: Ok the error is a link thing - cannot be run from desktop shortcut anymore but exe in .wine c_drive runs. Cannot re establish shortcut/link.

Cannot re establish shortcut/link.
Have you tried to delete desktop shortcut and make a new fresh one?
Dumb question, but have to ask.
The remaster total size was still within the size limits of the CD?
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
When I was a kid I wanted to be older.... This is not what I expected

Yes, no go. Desktop appeared without relevant shortcut - an iconified folder/directory containing links to wine programs - and failed to work after being recreated. The other programs installed under wine which were working pre remaster now don't. I'm sure links can be fixed.

Yes. Not actually burning discs but using a usb flash drive.

I intend to start again from scratch but not until I'm a little clearer as to what went wrong. Otherwise successful remaster aside from wonky wine woes.

I would say something got left off the remaster that is needed. I am not very knowledgeable on remastering, but it is very specific what has to be selected to go in a remaster.
Hopefully someone who does it a lot, will come along, and give you some advice.
