Podcast Aggregator Just For Puppy

#1 Post by brad_chuck »

See

http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 56&t=25120

For an updated version of PPG

This is an old version.

This is a small set of scripts that I made because nether podget or Bash Podder worked to my likeing.

It has a gui (ppg-gui.sh) and a shell script (ppg.sh) that can be run as a cron job.

I would like to get feedback on the program so that I can inprove it.

:) Looks like you have a great program in the development :)

Hope these ideas and suggestions are helpful :)

You know what it is and does. I do not. So you have to tell me. :)

I clicked on a few buttons and it started downloading MP3's

Are they yours - your favourites - on the web? Some people have never heard of a podcast (strange as it may seem) So you need to start there. Also the package should run from the desktop and not just cli

Would it work on my pawed casts or would they have to be converted to MP3's

How did you create the dotpup?

Help / About did not come up with anything.

A good way to introduce people to a program (to get them using and feedbacking) is to tell them the story of how you use podcasts. What you listen to and why you created this program.

Then ask specific questions about features you are uncetain of or intend to implement.

Be verbose. Better still create a podcast about this program . . .

Many thanks :)

I have yet to try this app but it looks as if you are on the right track.

Now to get a StreamTuner built for browsing podcast.....
I dislike having to search through those sites.

It does not affect me as most of what I listen to is streamable.

I will give this app a go sometime soon and return feedback.

Lobster now has a way to make his podcast very reachable if he chooses to do so.
Heaven is on the way, until then let's get the truth out!

Thanks for the feedback I will work on that stuff. I know the docs are bad so I will work on that this weekend. I like the story Idea.

Strange that the "About - Help" menu option did not work for you Lobster? I used the "defaulttexteditor" becasuse I thought that would work for everyone.

klh, did you see my posts on recording streams? Those small shell scripts record radio stations of the net and stay out of your way.

Thanks,

I love the idea of this program and it seems just what I've been looking for, but for some reason I can't run it. If I try to click on ppg-gui.sh I get a' no runaction specified for files of this type' message and if I run it from the command line is 'command not found. I am in the corret directory:

sh-3.1# pwd
/usr/local/ppg
sh-3.1# ls -a
. .done ppg.sh
.. Podcasts readme.txt
.debuglog.txt ppg-gui.sh serverlist.txt
sh-3.1# pwd
/usr/local/ppg
sh-3.1# ls
Podcasts ppg.sh serverlist.txt
ppg-gui.sh readme.txt
sh-3.1#
sh-3.1# ppg-gui.sh
sh: ppg-gui.sh: command not found
sh-3.1#
sh-3.1# ppg.sh
sh: ppg.sh: command not found
sh-3.1#

I am fairly new at Linux, am I missing something?

A GOOD copy of the file has been found (see my last message, below)

http://www.puppylinux.ca/members/Podcas ... rabber.pet

This is such a great file, - it would be wonderful if this could be integrated into sox and soxgui - all the audio tools in one place.

This is awesome!

Best

Good copy of the pet file has been found!

The pup file is still bad. Thanks to www.puppylinux.ca, there is a good copy there.

Would the owner of the file (or other) kindly upload it again to the other servers? The file is bad.

Best
