Software RAID in a VM

HI All,
I'm thinking of setting up a NAS with RAID3 on my local network using Precise Puppy on a ProLiant microserver. For educational purposes, I'd like to configure a VM on my desktop with 4+1 virtual disks so I can play around with the software first - the idea is to learn how to set up the whole system up, and also how to recover from various error situations before I deploy it for real on my microserver.
Any idea whether this is possible? Thanks.
