Hi all,
I have a microserver with 6 disks, I'd like them to be named /dev/sda, /dev/sdb etc, but each assigned to specific slots. If a drive is physically not present, such as the third i.e. /dev/sdc, I'd like /dev/sdc not to be assigned. I think this would make my raid array easier to manage when things go wrong.
Can this be done with udev rules? If not, can UUIDs be used somehow?
I'm running Precise Puppy, and so far liking it!
Thanks,
Mark.
map physical slot to /dev/ device?
I know next to nothing about raid, but there is a thread here which you may find useful
