Something is wrong so i need your help.
I want a dock for Precise puppy
fbpanel -- a dock for Precise Pups
Hi technewz,
I'm assuming your precise isn't jejy69's LxPup which uses Lxde which, by itself, enables you to create many panels/docks. But I've tested and used all other precise pups and included a second panel in every one. As you've just joined (welcome to the Forum) for your general informations, the precise pups are built using many binaries from Ubuntu 12. As much as 63% of binaries used to build Lupu and Lucid pups were from Ubuntu 10 and 11. Almost all pets created for Lupus and Lucids will work in precise pups; and since Ubuntu 10, 11 & 12 were based on debian, many will also work in Exprimos, also based on debian.
So, to get to the point, what I do is install JUST the fbpanel pet you'll find on the first post of this thread, http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=68200 and THEN the new_pfbpanel.pet you'll find here: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 478#538478 which was recommended in the first thread. Doing so will give you a panel and a configuration app, both on your desktop submenu. Using the configuration app, you can place your fbpanel wherever you want and install in it up to eight launchers. I prefer fbpanel to other launchers because it can be set to hide unless moused-over. Even when my desktop is filled with open Windows, by placing it on an edge I have instant access to the apps I most often use. If you need more launchers, also install the launcher pet discussed on the thread.
And I assume you know that you can use JWM configuration on the desktop submenu to add launchers to your rox taskbar. Between Rox's taskbar and fbpanel, I have instant access to 14 applications.
P.S. Although Puppy Package Manager provides access to Ubuntu repositories, it isn't like synaptic: it doesn't know what's already on you system and exactly what you also need to run the app you want. Ubuntu's don't always use the same libraries, or may assume a libary is present because its part of the basic build using gnome, while Puppy may have left it out as unnecessary in a Rox-Jwm system. So its safer to use pets built for Puppies rather than accessing Ubuntu's repos. But if you do, see my post, http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 492#692492

You could try this version of wbar here in the forum:-

You want the 2 links in the first post before the pictures (imlib2 and wbar 2.3 for Wary). Often stuff compiled in Wary is OK for other Puppies. Seems to work but I haven't tested it extensively.
