Diamond - 9 May 2012
I have launched a sister project of Diamond. Built like Diamond, but based on Slacko 5.33. Those who want a Slacko Version of Diamond can download PatriotOS
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=79294
Simply apply the wallpapers and themes from Diamond and you will have a Slacko based Diamond. I have no immediate plans to create a Slacko Diamond. My next efforts will focus on Lucid528.005 LucidPlus to take advantage of all the extra drivers included in that release.

A quick update; I've just downloaded and burnt Diamond (with LibreOffice) to CD, and I have to say this disk is a lot better
and more satisfactory than my previous one and has none of the faults that that one had. I think the old one may have been a "bad burn."
Just one thing though; how do I disable the "Initiating startup sequence " audio startup message, which I must admit I could do without especially when I use the distro during the "small hours"?
Thanks in advance,
CP .

To disable the startup sound, go to /etc/init.d and look for the file named startup-sound.qs. You can remove this file without it affecting anything else. Or, if you just wish to temporarily disable it, right click on it and go to Properties, then to the Permissions tab and untick the box that says "allow this file to run as a program.Colonel Panic wrote:A quick update; I've just downloaded and burnt Diamond (with LibreOffice) to CD, and I have to say this disk is a lot better

I really need to release an updated version of Diamond, but cannot find the time lately. Currently running Firefox 18.01 in my full install. I need to roll that and a heap lot of other improvements into a new release. Hopefully I will find the time soon. Cheers.

Thanks, I'll try that when I'm next in Diamond (I'm posting from a different Pup at the moment)TLM wrote:To disable the startup sound, go to /etc/init.d and look for the file named startup-sound.qs. You're welcome. I can't speak for others here but as long as I've got a reasonably up to date browser with Flash working, and can open my documents OK (older versions of Abiword struggle with OpenOffice documents, for example), then I'm happy, and I can do all that with Diamond right now. So, no hurry as far as I can see .TLM wrote:I really need to release an updated version of Diamond, but cannot find the time lately. Currently running Firefox 18.01 in my full install. Hi again. Just an update; I've now installed Diamond (the one with Libre Office etc.) to my hard drive and, if you don't want the startup message, the /etc/init.d one is the one to look for. Why it changed from what I said above I don't know.
It's a great Puplet anyway

PuPpy Linux Diamond kernel 3.0.25 (2014)
PuPpy Linux Diamond kernel 3.0.25 (2014). Try was a success, wireless and audio are perfect. It's now five o'clock, time to sleep .
8 A.M JRE and L.O can be loaded on the fly when needed, said RSH. Sure RSH ! I am retreated from the Office and all day long databases, word, and Excel. If tex is not enough, Abiword shall do the job for the house husband that i am and for my housewife too.
No Need of JRE, Qt should have been a better choice.
All apps needing JRE are available Windows, so i shall make W7 work a little bit, from time to time.
"in these race cases when wifi does not work i have a mini usb wireless adapter i orderd from DX. Cheap Smile
http://www.dealextreme.com/p/ultra-mini ... pter-48166 " not my problem but this info could be useful a lot for many Puppy users.
Switching the kernel to 3.0.25 solves the atheros drivers problem.
Hidden Drive icons, i move menu to top left, icons are here. Nice distro.

I agree, but unfortunately the download link on page 1 doesn't work now (I've just tried it) and I don't know of any others.hamoudoudou wrote:The best Lucid i have ever used !

Diamond is a life saver for me at the moment as I can't boot my hard drive right now (I messed something up in Grub when trying to shrink my Windows partition), and Full Diamond comes with Firefox, Thunderbird and LibreOffice already on the ISO.
So thanks once again to TLM!

When you click in the menu or on a picture, bug !
video You Tube
Being remasterized. but i got some bugs. When you click in the menu or on a picture, it opens above files than the one you have clicked. ...
Searching why..
TLM, Your Puppies are so wonderful, but kept in the attic by Ally.
Puppy is in the army now... With your Patriot Puppy ! TLM, you are Mandibule 2005, i suppose,
We are studing how to improve quality of screencast with Puppy tools. Newest Pupies have SSR, but SSR only can be used on Precise.
pAVrecord is not bad. I will try to remake Diamond video taking in account his newest improvement for pAVrecord
