Hi Mick,
Another super distribution.
Although your new Bibletime 2.9.2 works great, there is a minor problem with Bibletime in ppm. It cannot download since ppm cannot determine file size and aborts. Dependencies download and install fine.
Thanks again,
Jim

A LAN anomaly when Slacko56 awakens after sleep
I have the same problem here with Slacko56 as well This occurs when Slacko56 is awakened after a cover-close sleep with its LAN wire connected on this particular PC.
I'm thinking it can be hardware related, but don't know how to test via Slacko to determine the real issue with this laptop. All LAN hardware is via its motherboard. And no problems on LAN-WAN use when system is booted/rebooted. Only surfaces when sleep-awakened.

Edited adding a 2nd question

Questions
- Any ideas on commands that I can engage to zero-in on the problem?
- Anyone else running a laptop and having any similar occurrence?

Hello !
Slacko-5.6_non-PAE:
Graphics work from the start, firstrun/quicksetup reports intel driver is chosen.
Slacko-5.6_PAE:
Graphics don't work from the start (programme-icons are there, rest is black. Right-clicking DT renders menu icons repeatedly ...), exiting X and running xorgwizard, choosing modesetting driver has me sorted.
or ...
xorgwizard, choosing intel driver, accepting blindly (screen's just black), exiting X, editing xorg.conf and setting
also gets me sorted.
Brookdale's a bit of fun, eh?
Cheers /

Great job 01micko.
Slacko 5.6 is quickly becoming my favorite version of Puppy.
Only issue I have is the 10.3.183.51 version of "Flash Player" that comes with Firefox. It does not like my hardware and gives me a lot of problems with video streaming.
Easy fix.
Use "GetFlash install Flashplayer" and download and install the latest version.
Problems gone.

Slacko 5.6 - feedback, bug reports
I added a few applications and did a remaster, burned the iso and
installed to a 16gb SDHC card using the Puppy Universal Installer.
It didn't put the files where I wanted them but I made a directory and
moved them there, ran grub4dos and it's working great.
Computer is an emachines D620 laptop.

How should I remaster, so as to include all of the extras/tweaks I've added?Billtoo wrote:I added a few applications and did a remaster, burned the iso
Re: Slacko 5.6 - feedback, bug reports
You need to burn the original slacko iso (pae or non-pae)Sylvander wrote:How should I remaster, so as to include all of the extras/tweaks I've added?Billtoo wrote:I added a few applications and did a remaster, burned the iso
to cd or dvd and from your custom slacko run the Remaster Puppy live-CD from
the setup menu.
I let it create a directory on the hard drive (screenshot) where the
new iso will be built.
It will prompt for the live-CD and copy files from it.
I just followed the prompts and entered what made sense to me, I
didn't choose to burn the dvd right away (you'll see the prompt) but
had it create the iso on sda1, renamed the iso to slacko56rem.iso and
then burned that.
The prompts sometimes recommend which option to choose, anyway, I hope
this helps you.
