Upup Raring 3.9.9.2 with non-PAE 3.9.9 kernel. 13 July 2013
Upup Raring 3.9.9.1 with non-PAE 3.9.9 kernel.
One problem that I found is that pmount won't mount a dvd.
I am now uploading Upup Raring 3.9.9.2.
Latest woof and ubuntu raring with latest updates used.
The non-US keyboard layout bug has been fixed. Gnumeric updated to the latest. Own compile. Blame me. Ffconvert, Pmusic and Pburn updated.
In the menu is now new item: pRun by Radky.
Several scripts has been fixed according to findings in Slacko development. Most of those fixes are from SFR. They are not yet in woof.
New network item for nfs sharing...Nfs mounter. Created by mikeb whom is back in forum. I remember him from 2009-2010, from his deep insight of linux. I am not sure if it is compatible with new kernel without script edition. But is in menu for those nfs share users to test.
Get_libreoffice in menu under Document. Calculator count reduced. I have separate sfs of one hundred calculators for those who miss the lost ones. Xonclock with gui in menu under Desktop. One new gtk and jwm theme by recobayu. Pnethood and Network rox app fixed. Peasy DVD Player added. Wallpaper setter called gwp now default wallpaper switcher by Nathan F whom is also back, at least creating Puppy compatible stuff. Gcc-4.7.3, upgraded from 4.6.X version, some bleeding edge compiles needs this update. I hope the upgrade is ok. My test compile worked. It needed quite a work to get it right. Seamonkey 2.19....yeah...yeah...why not Firefox - Opera - QtWeb - Chromium -- Dillo - separate browser sfs... etc...no...it is Seamonkey 2.19. Period. Why ? Well...it just is...
Glib bug: GLib-CRITICAL **: g_slice_set_config: assertion `sys_page_size == 0' failed .....probably will be unfixed in Raring.
The problem goes deep to the glib development and there just isnt anyone willing to do anything to the bug. There is no new posts about the fix in months. The bug affects several distros using glib over 2.36.
It might be that the bug will stay long. Just like gtk filechooser single click. It has stayed open from 2004.
My used fix according to the bug thread: G_SLICE=always-malloc /usr/lib/seamonkey/seamonkey "$@"
That G_SLICE=always-malloc inhibits mozilla apps crash, but does not inhibit the error message in terminal. It might slow down a little the Seamonkey launching time...nothing remarkable anyway.
I will post tomorrow the download link. The most curious ones know from where to grab the iso anyway. Now it is time for me to take a brake.

Manual frugal install to the hard drive of a Gateway desktop pc.

When compiling the NVIDIA-Linux-x86-325.15.run it gave an error about
mismatched gcc versions but it also gave the option to continue which I
did and it compiled and seems fine.
No time for more testing right now but will do more later.
It's been a couple of days since a new pup was released so this will
prevent boredom from setting in
Thanks

The checksum is correct and it launches fine. But many of the desktop icons are dead.

Had a minute to test a little ...
While Console is unresponsive I am able to open LXterminal from within a Rox-filer window.
I did reboot with devx set to load.
Seamonkey does not respond from the Desktop or the Menu, xChat doesn't respond from the Menu, PuppyPhone does try to install from the Menu but I didn't test any of the steps.
More tomorrow ...

Upup Raring 3.9.9.1 with non-PAE 3.9.9 kernel.
Once the devx was installed all the desktop icons launch programs, I
added vlc, clementine, xine, firefox, and dosbox with ppm and they all work
fine.
I compiled the latest midnight commander and it's dependency slang, the
latest xfe and it's dependency fox toolkit and that works too.
So apart from the missing gcc lib 3992 is working well.

Thank you all of the feedback. Updating gcc has not been seamless. I will rewoof the build with missing gcc lib included to the main sfs. That gcc version mismatch needs also inspection. Maybe some older gcc 4.6 lib has crept in.
At least devx sfs has become familiar to the users. Lol.
Sorry of the inconvenience. The aim was good. Offering newer gcc for demanding compiling needs.

Billtoo. I think you are right. That is not good. This makes me evaluate the gcc update again. Should I still revert back to the previous 4.6 version.
I will test by compiling some kernel module asap.
Thanks.
EDIT. I compiled latest NVIDIA 319 with getnvidia. It compiled ok and in nvidia-installer.log has no gcc mismatch errors. There is though error of not found header file but it didnt prevent the compile. That error is probably new kernel and changed location of some header files. Need of checking the symlinks to point newer location. I will inspect that.
Anyway...I am going to rewoof the build. I found the problem. gcc_lib row was wrongly created in DISTRO_SPECS. The reason of wrong location found. I just have to say that you have been fast with pinpointing the problem.
Thank you all.

rcrsn51. Will do. Thanks. I checked the header file error in NVIDIA log.
The header files are in place. I am not sure what is the problems with them. Anyway...what I checked people log errors....it seems to be in all of those logs and it wasnt the culprit. It seems to be problem how NVIDIA installer checks them. And it does not stop compiling. I let it be. Nothing I can do now with my knowledge.
The new woof is processing. I create new build in the evening.
Because I tested gcc upgrade, the first thing when I booted 3.9.9.2 build was to load devx sfs and try the compiling and fix the errors I noticed. Usually I also load devx sfs very soon. I feel naked around comp if I dont have compiling environment around. Lol.
That is why I didnt notice the bug with the missing lib.
