Which page to update?
Thanks, Lobster.
I recall that you used an insert function using the "MainSoftware" page for the front page, so which page will it be (to make sure the right page gets updated)?
Here is the other page that goes into the wiki front page: http://puppylinux.org/wikka/MainSoftware
Please note that an identical page is also on the Wiki's front page. I have updated the Education link there, but this new page does not have the update. This will be the opening page in Firefox

Re: Which page to update?
Thanks raffy.
This is the Community Page that has been available to edit for the last month
http://puppylinux.org/wikka/CommunityEdition
It is designed to load from a file internal to Puppy (rather than a URL) - this will make it quicker to load
I sent the HTML to Hacao a few hours ago and this is the version that will be in 2.02 OfficeCE
If another version of CE becomes available than the HTML (which can be updated as it is on the wiki) will be included
The main page of the wiki takes part of the Community Edition HTML
This page as HTML is practically identical (based on the same code) but is not editable - I have been using it as a default web page

Puppy torrrent needed for Community Edition
PuppyOffice2.03CE is HERE
We need hosters and at least one bit torrent before official release
Send me a PM if you can set up or seed a bit torrent
I am running PuppyOffice2.03CE and uploading to a server with some bandwidth . . .
Bittorrent may be the only release option to start with
Hacaos servers are not good (took me four downloads to get the file
- any traffic for it will just shut them down . . .
Bit torrent is the most reliable method of downloading
Not long now . . . 50% upload complete - another hour
NB: you may be assured that if you download puppyoffice2.02
that is the correct one and is 2.03
the name upgrade was decided at the last minute

metalink
enter the url's that will be hosting puppy and save the code as puppyCE.iso.metalink You can use more url's and change the url types as well. I will see what i can do about the torrent.
Code: Select all
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<metalink version="3.0" generator="Metalink Generator v1.00.0034" xmlns="http://www.metalinker.org/">
<!--
Metalink, an Open Standard, makes downloading easier by
bundling the various ways (FTP/HTTP/P2P) to get files into
one format for easier downloads, as well as bundling
checksums to automatically verify completed downloads.
Currently the following applications support this file:
- aria2 (Unix) [ http://aria2.sourceforge.net/ ]
- GetRight 6 (Windows) [ http://www.getright.com/ ]
- Speed Download (Mac) [ http://www.yazsoft.com/ ]
- wxDownload Fast (All)[ http://dfast.sourceforge.net/ ]

<description>puppy is an operating system. puppy has a suite of graphics, internet, audio, video, office, and peer to peer file sharing applications. you can replace a windoz installation with puppy. if you would like to install and run puppy, download and burn it to cd.</description>

Heaven is on the way, until then let's get the truth out!
Download managers such as aria2 (See this post) and others on all platforms use this to download a portion from each server. This makes the load on any one server a lot less. Once the download finishes, the md5 checksum is automatically verified.Lobster wrote:
Not sure what to do with this Kenny . . .
Here's another description: 'Metalink makes complex download pages obsolete by replacing long lists of download mirrors and BitTorrent trackers with a single .metalink file. As you might have already guessed, a .metalink file is a file that tells a download manager all the different ways it can download a file. The file itself takes the form of an open XML standard that can list an unlimited number of HTTP and FTP sources as well as BitTorrent trackers and ed2k and magnet links.'
If you try it once, you'll be hooked.
