Hi Mick,
I've just been lurking in the forum and discovered your latest Slacko64. It's impressive and is working great on my system. Of course, I haven't yet tried the Nvidia driver.
I used your getlibreoffice pet to install the latest Libre Office which is working fine. Also, discovered that Fatdog's Bibletime program works fine.
Hope that you are planning on adding a Wine capability so that some Windows 32 bit programs can run. I tried Fatdog's version which did not work.
Thanks again for your super distribution which continues to improve.
Jim

It's still early days. Obviously xorgwizard is broken due to the lack of ddcprobe which I have found and will be in the next. The goal of the next version is to get all bins and apps that are in standard slacko working and accounted for. It will still be alpha but then I have to get back to 32 bit for awhile. I've had some time constraints lately so haven't had the productivity I would have liked to this point.
Cheers

I tried my existing grub that came with the latest linux mint i have installed and it did not recognize any os system on my slacko-64 install partition with a sudo update-grub. Tried by installing grub from inside universal installer while booted in slack-64 cd and it make a menu entry in grub; but it produced the same above error . Tried grub4dos that was on my precise 5.7.1 full install and it recognized the os but produced the above error. I tried what was suggested for the entry in boot menu by universal installer in slack64 in my linux mint grub:bigpup wrote:What boot loader are you using?slick-puppy wrote: For the life of me though I can not get it to boot when trying to do a full install on the hard drive though:

Thanks for your work!!
How did you make the boot menu entry for the full install?
title Puppy Linux 5.8.7 full install
root (hd0,7)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz root=/dev/sda8 pmedia=atahd
I downloaded the iso again and started from scratch and same results as a before.
One thing I have not mentioned before is inside the universal installer when it comes to where they tell you there is an existing puppy install on the partition where I want to install i did not choose wipe. It always says that when it is not true when there is another full install puppy installed. I have just created the partition and formated it with gparted. I choose wipe last week installing precise puppy and it wiped out another partition where I had another puppy install but still installed puppy on the blank partition i just created. So after that i never choose wipe. For some reason it saw the other puppy install i wanted to keep and thought it was on the partition i wanted to install the new puppy. I have not had any issues after that in precise 5.7.1 by not choosing wipe.
Just finished Dbanning a hard drive and installing Windows 7 so a fresh frugal of Slacko64 5.8.7.Looks good.
Did need to use nouveau.noaccel=1 .

I don't know if there is a wine pet or sfs for LHP but if there is it would be worth trying or maybe http://www.winehq.org/Jim1911 wrote:

first test of this one
Of course there are minor issues, but all in all it looks great.
I have troubles with getting sound. As in earlier Puppies, I have to use the multiple-souncard-wizard to choose my working card. But in this release there is no sound after setting up retrovol.
Only sound in pMusic when soundcard is set in the pMusic preferences. That could lead us to alsaequalizer as pMusic bypasses this when overriding the autosettings for alsa.
Now lets look at the output of pequalizer...
That should tell something...

There is still something wrong with those binaries though so I'm using a version I built in slackbones. Will be in the next.smokey01 wrote:Sigmund,

thanks. I think either my phone provider has become suspect on the files .iso like Im downloading movies or something. The downloads get far along then never finish. burning up data plan as a result. I bet if we renamed it .apk like an android app it will load as quickly as the iso files used to. No problem with .pets sfs or deltas finishing.smokey01 wrote:Ted Dog, I just made a delta file for 586 > 587. It's 45M. I guess there were a few changes.
I know they say Andriod apps are sandboxed but the sand used acts like unstable quicksand..

Would you believe, it turns out that the Pentium D is actually a 64-Bit processor! Seems happy enough running Win 7 Pro 64-Bit so I might as well give Slacko64 a shot.01micko wrote:Slacko64
Just to be clear..
You need a 64 bit processor!

If this was Mission4Today and you were talking about the next IL-2 patch, the release date is always "In two weeks."01micko wrote:Wait a day or so... the next is almost due ..Jades wrote:Would you believe, it turns out that the Pentium D is actually a 64-Bit processor!
