I have not had chance to test it much.
Based on Chromium 34 and needs glibc 2.15 so very recent Puppies only.
Chromium icon in the title bar is mentioned on the Maxthon forum.
Create a desktop icon at first close will not work - just use the standard Puppy method of dragging from /usr/share/applications
Download link removed - see newer version below

Unfortunately I've been unable to get Maxthon to work in any of the Puppies I've tried it in.
I'd like to know; has anyone else had any success with it, and if so, were there any additional libraries they needed to install first before it would work?

I only tweaked it a bit and assembled it for Puppy so that others could try it. I haven't tested it very much. All I can tell you is:-
The latest version is based on Chromium 33 and compiled against (so needs) glibc 2.15 which means it will only run in very recent Puppies. It runs for me in Precise and Upup Raring without needing any extra libs.
In recent Slackos it runs but you always need libgconf2 which you can install from PPM (find gconf) but it is better to install just the lib without the bloat which I extracted and posted here:-
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=86501
The earlier version of Maxthon (0.9.1.0) in this thread is based on Chromium 27 (I think) and may run in Wheezy and a few slightly earlier Puppies including Exprimo and Lucid (not Wary or Racy), but you may see annoying "out of date - no longer updating" warnings every time you start the browser.
On first run it is always more likely to crash or hang when it sets up the profile and downloads the adblock stuff. After that it settles down a bit. Running it from terminal I do notice that it sometimes tries to download some data. Maybe this is connected to its cloud service or something, but this does sometimes seem to cause a bit of instability.

Maxthon, the big one.
Frail Puppy will not delay sinking with a navigator as Maxthon. Me, my Puppy Precise sank fast made!

Maxthon crashes the pupsave entirely

Please Oscar,
could you send me the detail instructions how to compile maxthon browser, like you did? Is there any detailed instructions posted, about compiling?
Now, there is new Maxthon for Linux V1.0.4.0 Beta since yesterday and I am feeling very guilty asking you to make .pet files always.

I would to learn to do it by my self.
Thanks in advance

Hello Kicalaf,
I don't compile it from source, I just repack it as .pet and .sfs. I take the .deb or the tarball and extract it, check the ownerships and permissions (the .deb is usually all fine in this respect), edit the wrapper script to specify the data config directory and allow outdated plugins. I then add things like a launcher script in /usr/bin and a .desktop file.
In addition to the usual libgconf2 this latest Maxthon also needs libgtkhotkey1 so I added the current stable Debian one and it starts in Slacko 5.6.0 I haven't had time to test it though. Take all the usual precautions if you are going to install it.
I hope you are able to download from here:-

Mathon is one the ive browsers offered bu Triton Mate, well kown derivative of precise for use by people only French speaking . Version sfs not good.i will study how to solve it, browsing the forum. Maxthon is it worth the pain, i don't know.. I will feed back to petihar, the dev.
I check the topic, for a pet or SFS..
Dead links, look on other topic... abandon. No Maxthon for Triton, unless Petihar informs about how to do.. postponed project.
