How to connect Puppy guest with Windows host using ftpd?

Puppy Precise
installed in virtualbox with windows 7 64 bit host.
(frugal)


I manage to copy back & forth with windows host by using "start ftpd" & Turn ON VirtualBox Only network.

However, the problem is many of my data is stored in /mnt/home.
If i copy those files into my download, there is a limit of 1.2GB as seen in this screen shot attached.

How to directly access those folders? Any idea?
Or any other way?

Perhaps, for those tasks, a little web server might be useful.

Search for mongoose for windows (if the server it's needed in Windows), and the executable for Puppy it's here:

Then when the server it's running, in a browser, you type the adress of the other machine and you'll see the content of the folder where mongoose was run for.

ftp can be a bit of a nightmare due to how it works.... might be easier to look into samba or NFS... I use that with qemu so unfortunatly I am not up on the details for virtual box.

Why is there a need to install anything? Use Windows File sharing (VMhost) and Puppy file share clients built into PUPs (VMguest). Just setup a Windows share and access if with PUP. Another option, if running a 64bit PUP in the VM guest, is to use its SAMBA server and share ANY folder you choose while having Window (VMhost) accessing PUP's SAMBA server.

No software is installed. You just use what's there.

This way you don't run any risk of problems installation software can bring to the table.

Thanks Martin, but you're suggesting vmware.
Unfortunately, i am using virtualbox.
I;ve tried all other things but with no success.
The only thing that works is ftpd.
Unfortunatelly, you see that not all folders are shown there.


I did try samba @ puppy, but it seems not working.
i dont know why.
I will try again.
