Hey, that Spacefm isn't too shabby.
It isn't XFE or Konqueror, but it's better than the PCManfms and EMELfms and other garbage.
And it actually retains a 2-pane layout.
I could maybe even use it without tearing my hair out, if I was forced to.
(that's a glowing review, BTW).
Spacefm ... a fork of PCManFM-0.5.2

It _can_, but it can also be configured to emulate ROX-Filer and all kinds of weird configurationskooliepup wrote:And it actually retains a 2-pane layout.
I actually like the default drag operation to be move, but memories of my IT days come back to haunt me (about once a week I had to fix some Art department professor's Mac because they dragged something) ... btw, to copy you just right click copy and right click paste

Hello !
I tried to compile the latest version of PCManFM, version 0.9.10 !
It is compiled with the Puppy Racy 4.2.2.7 !
If you want, you can get packages here on the French forum : http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... a9769721fc
I have already compiled it with gvfs, to get "Computer, Applications, and Trash", but I lost packages
Do you know how to get internal hard drives in the "Computer" directory please ? I learned that we need Udisks, but I have some issues with the compilation... If I remember correctly, the problem was Udev version.
Puppy Udev's version is too old ( v167 ), and we need a version >= 170, it seems.
Cordially

Can't Get the spacefm working on 4.2.1
I have 4.2.1 running on one of my computers and decided to look for an alternative file manager. I have PCManFM running on Debian on another computer and found threads here about this and another pet.
Unfortunately, when I installed the spacefm pet, clicking on the menu item for spacefm doesn't do anything and running from the console gives me an symbol lookup error -
undefined symbol: g_malloc0_n.
When I first installed the program, it gave an error about lacking glibc_2.7. This vanished after I installed a glibc_2.10 pet that another thread referred people to (that pet is located on sourceforge).
Is 4.2.1 not equipped to run this pet or program? Do I have to install glib > 2.22.0 and gtk > 2.18.0?
I have installed the gtkversion patch and modified the gtk version to 2.24.0 in the pkgconfig file, without change.
I also changed the spacefm.desktop file by eliminating the %F and also changed them from terminal=false to terminal=true.
I haven't installed the PCMANFM pet itself - was that supposed to be installed before the spaceFM pet??

PCManFM SpaceFM vive Rox-filer
PCManFM SpaceFM vive Rox-filer
I will let you PCmanFM SpaceFM and other Thunar, these file managers are complicated. They must be used to appreciate Rox-filer.
It's only my first try of spaceFM. Anyway, default installed PCManFM bores me
Viva Rox-filer !
However, i want to believe SpaceFM is a wonderful tool.
I don't see the titles bar, i changed the gtk theme, unsuccessful.
Any solution ?

my answer is given above !
For us, translating 4 pages of english text is not a sinécure.
un article vieux de 2 ans, oui mais m^eme vieux de 2 jours,
"two years old" get a topic unusable. so destroy all older topics !
SpaceFM is too old to be used in 2014, that is what i understand. Ok abandonné. go to the frenchy forum SpaceFM ici

2 years old (but sucessfull again) . We would like english speaking people undestand the difference between 'reading 7 pages' and 'translating 7 pages'
