Restated the problem here in the video hardware section:

How do I create an environment to compile the 32bit drivers and integrate them?!

I can't get LH64 to access the photos on my Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphone.
It doesn't have a removable sd-card so cable or wireless are the only ways to accomplish this.
Any suggestions, please?
Thanks - David

Is there an app to batch process - scale-down - a folder of images?
I have 88 jpeg photos ranging from approx. 1.5 - 2.8 megs in size (e.g. a 1.9 meg photo is 2592x1922 pixels).
I'd like to make a reduced version of all of them down to 800x600 for use on a Web page.
Suggestions, please?
Thanks - David

^peasyscale seems to be what you're looking for, though i don't know if it'll work on lighthouse.
PeasyScale loads OK and creates the peasyscale folder with a ".count" file but no scaled jpg image.
Thoughts, please?

my mistake. for some reason i remembered it as having been built around spacefm.gcmartin wrote:Lighthouse has ROX.Puppus Dogfellow wrote:Ive never used lighthouse, but i think i remember it as being roxless. ...
anyway, it appears the package i linked edoc to was built for 32 bit pups. as yet no report on whether the 64 bit version rcrsn51 built for fatdog works here.
I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this or not...
I was actually just wondering if anyone knows how tazoc's health is doing. Lighthouse64 is one of my regular pups, and I was just curious about it's creator. Hope he's well, but haven't seen any activity from him, or heard any news.

Hi @Eathray. Haven't had any contact with him since late fall of last year. He did share how grave it was but did not want it public.
I, like you and others have hoped for the best for him. He provided great leadership, even after his illness took its toll on his health as he completed the last release of Lighthouse. With what he shared with me it was an amazing feat from him to get this into our hands, even as his health was destabilizing.
It was absolutely amazing. I personally consider the LH64-602 release "A Work of Art" as he extended what he had accomplished in his prior release(s). And with his LH64 website, toolchain, and all he embraced for us, his presence, piecing knowledge, and the information he shared was a great guide to users; experienced or not.
Hope this helps

gcmartin - that was a wonderful & well-earned tribute to him. Thanks for sharing that.
While here - are there any updates that are critical to run - given the bad news about the Shellshock bug?

Thank you all for the answers.
I certainly hope tazoc will enjoy a recovery... and hopefully someone can keep the community informed as to his condition.
I hope nobody will take this as morbid, but has anyone backed up all the Lighthouse releases and software packages... just in case? Obviously tazoc's illness is more than a cold or flu bug, and if the worst were to happen, it would be horrible to see all his wonderful work lost.
Just a thought. My wife lost both her parents this past year. We do loose people. Of course, my hope is to see a full recovery and a 700 series release of Lighthouse... I'm sure you all hope the same.

With the age of the software packages, if security is a concern, you're probably better off not running LHP. It pains me to say that, but I'm not going to try to convince you that its currently secure. Most of the default applications have had major updates since LHP 6.02 was released.edoc wrote:While here - are there any updates that are critical to run - given the bad news about the Shellshock bug?
If you dont mind learning to ride a horse again... try out the latest Fatdog beta. It's got a bunch of features which will help keep it up to date as time goes on. (like an actual system update method)
Since TazOC is MIA at the moment... I'm focusing my efforts on improving that.
He and I were talking about setting up an rsync to pull down everything onto another server I had, but we never managed to make it happen before his latest hiatus. I can scrape his server easy enough... but I dont want to kill his bandwidth and incur him charges if he's not ready for that.Eathray wrote:I hope nobody will take this as morbid, but has anyone backed up all the Lighthouse releases and software packages... just in case? Honestly of more importance isn't what hosted online... but all the scripts and stuff he has locally on his machine that he uses to build his releases. Having all of his prewritten scripts that one can update and drop into a future release instead of having to try to strip it all out of a past release and then update it would be the most important thing to have.
That way someone can pick up if he decides, or has to, completely back off from any future development.
I'll try to send him another message tonight.
q5sys,
Thanks for the reply. Sounds like you've tried to be helpful to tazoc, and I'm glad for that. As I say, I think it would be awful to see his legacy disappear.
Not really too concerned about security. I have several computers running multiple versions of Puppy each, and I haven't had so much as a browser hijacker in more than half a decade, let alone anything serious. Puppy in all it's various incarnations seems to be immanently safe. I don't want to get cocky about that, but that's my honest experience.
Hopefully tazoc will recover and bring us a version 700

If there is a financial need - I'm sure that LH64 users are grateful enough to donate to remove any stress around hosting - allowing bandwidth for data transfer - so that you can continue his work until he's able to return to it.Q5sys wrote: He and I were talking about setting up an rsync to pull down everything onto another server I had, but we never managed to make it happen before his latest hiatus. I heard from Taz today! So thankfully he's still with us. He said he will try to make a post here when he's able. im going to talk to him again about making a backup of his server, and maybe if he decides to cease dev, i can pick up where he has left off.edoc wrote:If there is a financial need - I'm sure that LH64 users are grateful enough to donate to remove any stress around hosting - allowing bandwidth for data transfer - so that you can continue his work until he's able to return to it.Q5sys wrote: He and I were talking about setting up an rsync to pull down everything onto another server I had, but we never managed to make it happen before his latest hiatus.
