To Mr. Barry K.- Latest SNS Network
Greetings to Mr. Ing. Barry K.!
Thank you very much!
Please,
do publish the latest version
of SNS Network manager
(from Slacko 5.7), because
your SNS Network Manager is
the best. It is much better than
Windows WIFI managers,
much better than WICD, Frisbee,
and all others. The SNS Network is unike
that never interrupt Wifi internet connection!
We hope that we could be able
to download it.
Thanks in advance!

I am having sudden problems with the camera in LH64-602b and Precise 5.7.1
I have even tried Chromium with a current version of Flash to no joy.
LH74 is on a HP Pavilion g7 laptop & was working fine then stopped after Firefox 28 update (Flash was updated to try to solve the problem). I can see the other people's cams via VideoControlPanel.net but mine doesn't show up.
Then I tried a fresh install of Precise on a MSI Netbook w/Chromium 32 which appears to work OK, Testing earlier I could see the other person's cam via VideoControlPanel.net but mine doesn't show up.
No idea what might be in common between the two.
I'm not sure where to start looking for a solution.
Any reason to believe that Slacko with Chromium (they are asking me to try Chrome rather than a Mozilla product with the idea that something in Mozilla is the cause).
WDYT?
Thanks!

rox
hi!
in precise 5.5 (IRC in older versions too) rox iconified windows works,
in wheezy35xx, precise 5.7, tahr 5.8 (and newer?) don't work at least for me.
how to reprod:
right click on any item, options, pinboard, iconified windows, show iconified windows, check in.
in precise 5.5, after minimalizing a window it puts an icon to my desktop, in precise 5.7.1 (and newer) it does nothing.
both uses rox 2.11,

pidgin has not pidgin.pc file for pkg. When trying to ./configure pidgin-OTR

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.
Alternatively, you may set the environment variables EXTRA_CFLAGS
and EXTRA_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.

Forum member gyro developed a new approach so puppy can use a savedirectory on an ext2/3/4 partition.
So I made a delta file that will update precise-5.7.1 to 5.7.2 and will include the new feature and some extras.
If you would like to test the new savefolder feature on precise, check here for more info and downloads

Was the stick ext2/3/4 formatted?backi wrote:Tested 5.7.2 delta iso on USBstick but at shutdown did not create savefile .
Just shutdown *after asking to create a savefile ** without saving .
Savefolder will not be created on a VFAT stick.
However, the traditional puppy savefile is created without a problem on a vfat-formated USB stick (at least at my end when booting from the precise-5.7.2.iso)

I had problems at times with ext4 formatted USB sticks (particularly older kingstone). You may want to try another stick or try to remove the journal from the ext4 withbacki wrote:Usb stick was ext4 formatted
Code: Select all
tune2fs -O ^has_journal /dev/sdb1 #or wherever your stick is mounted - check with 'df'
BTW I also tried an ext4 stick and worked fine.

I tested a pristine frugal install in a sub-folder - all proceeded OK until I tried to use sfs-load-on-the-fly when none of the sfs files inside the sub-folder could be detected. Tested prior to savefolder creation and post reboot and savefolder creation.mavrothal wrote:testers wanted

As an aside - it would be nice if "rfkill unblock wifi" could be added to the bootup code to remove a "bug" in 5.7.1 where some wifi (broadcom?) is soft blocked on boot. This is a "bug" only present in 5.7.1
Cheers & thanks

Good catch. sfs_load looks for pup_rw/pup_ro1 to determine the subfolder.peebee wrote: I tested a pristine frugal install in a sub-folder - all proceeded OK until I tried to use sfs-load-on-the-fly when none of the sfs files inside the sub-folder could be detected. Since this savefolder implementation does not have pup_rw it can not find the boot sub-folder.
Edit: Install sfs_load-2.3 or latter hat is savefolder-aware

In case I build another delta, do you know at which point the softblock occurs so to add the unblock after that? (I do not have anything relevant to check).peebee wrote:As an aside - it would be nice if "rfkill unblock wifi" could be added to the bootup code to remove a "bug" in 5.7.1 where some wifi (broadcom?) is soft blocked on boot. Considering the comment in the code refers to the same complainant as in this thread, well.. say no more. (and it was around that time too, BK's last release, was a request).

This statement is not quite correct.mavrothal wrote:sfs_load looks for pup_rw/pup_ro1 to determine the subfolder.
Since this savefolder implementation does not have pup_rw it can not find the boot sub-folder.
1) pup_rw/pup_ro1 do still exist in this implementation of savefolder, but they're symbolic links and not mountpoints.
2) The problem with older versions of 'sfs_load' is that they reject any "savefile" that does not contain a '.' in their name. Hence it is a problem with both implementations of savefolder.
It can be fixed by:
a) renaming the save folder, e.g. append ".d"
b) installing the latest sfs_load.
c) patching the sfs_load that came with your puppy.
