MTP Android Pet for Tahr Pup (and all others?)
G'day 01micko,
Thanks for testing your Androids and MTP pets with Tahr-5.8.4.
(A little bit off-Tahr-topic) In my Slackos (that mostly do read my Androids), I have your mtp-noarch pet at version .011 - so I will also update those with this later version.
I assume the go-mtpfs and the mtpstatus pets/packages are as before so don't need changing?
Is there a up-to-date thread where we can get the latest .pets for our Androids? The thread reference you linked in your post does not have the .015 no-arch sourced as far as I can see.
I did not find this mtp package in the Tahr repository (which doesn't mean it's not there, given my searching skills ) but, I think, given we all now have >=2 Android devices (i.e. you and me), such a .pet/package should be available if not included in all new Pups (add to the CE-woof)?
I'll try the 015 pet in the Tahrs once I finish on the forum (in Slacko-5.9.3 at the moment).
David S.

go-mtpfs is still the latest, hasn't been updated in a while. The status icon has some very minor bugfixes (just compiler warnings) so what you have should suffice.davids45 wrote:(A little bit off-Tahr-topic) In my Slackos (that mostly do read my Androids), I have your mtp-noarch pet at version .011 - so I will also update those with this later version.

I have been meaning to start one, but I'm not quite happy with the prog at the moment, just minor niggles. There is a "bug" in the one I uploaded in this thread @line~15 .. the "POPUP" variable should not be set, ie POPUP= is what should be there otherwise no splash messages appear. The "POPUP=1" setting is if you have a proper notification daemon installed and might work in heavier window managers (xfce?) that have one.davids45 wrote:Is there a up-to-date thread where we can get the latest .pets for our Androids? Finally tried TahrPup, nice job 666philb, thanks for this.
It refuses to work on my comp as frugal install, keep getting "puppy_tahr_5.8.4.sfs not found". So far this is the only puppy I've tried that hasn't booted frugal. It does boot from flash drive though, posting from it now.
Next is to see if I can get XFCE-4.11 running!

The source for individual packages is here: http://archive.xfce.org/src/xfce/. The repo has 4.11 packages (with lots of dependencies) but I can't get xfce4-session to run, looks like a dbus issue.linux28 wrote: XFCE-4.11?

TahrPup-5.8.4 with xfce-4.11, crude so far but working. Now down to gvfs errors.

freememapplet_tray
Could someone please tell me where I can find the source for the version of "freememapplet_tray" found in TahrPup 5.8.4?

Thanks for the url.01micko wrote:http://distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/sources/f/
But there's just one thing, the latest there says 2.5 and I think the TahrPup one says 2.7.
Are they really the same?

I don't know. Not in tahr atm, but it uses the newer cylindrical svg icon right? Or is it the old one with the 'donuts'? Take a look in BK's src repogyro wrote:Thanks for the url.01micko wrote:http://distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/sources/f/

Yes the 2.5 you uploaded uses the newer cylindrical svg icons, so I'm using it, thanks.01micko wrote:I don't know. Not in tahr atm, but it uses the newer cylindrical svg icon right? Or is it the old one with the 'donuts'? Take a look in BK's src repo
I could see nothing later than 2.4 in BK's repo.

Savefolder without 'mount -o bind'
If anyone wishes to try using a newer implementation of the 'savefolder' facility, that uses symbolic links instead of 'mount -o bind', in TahrPup 5.8.4, download http://www.fishprogs.info/puppy/tahr/initrd.gz and http://www.fishprogs.info/puppy/tahr/yd ... _5.8.4.sfs.
Move them into a directory containing a frugal install of TahrPup 5.8.4 and you're ready to go.

Hi,
I'm on your 5.8.4 no pae puppy : thanks a lot for your work.
It's a Pentium M 1600 Mhz and everything seems to work. But my usb webcam, logitech c170, that works in skype does not work with guvcview ! This webcam works in other puppies with guvcview different versions. The window GUVCVideo is completely black.
Thanks,
Philippe

Hi,
Thank you very much for developing this awesome distro!
I only have one remark: I cannot get my audio to work in either 5.8.3 or 5.8.4, nor in Slacko 5.4 Opera. My sound-chip is a ALC892 (Intel HDA/Azalia) on a Asrock E350M1 board. When I play audio, I don't hear anything on my 3.5mm headphones or HiFi-system. Changing the output mode in the ALSA mixer doesn't matter (S/PDIF,HDMI and analog).
What also seems a little weird is that I cannot change anything, I can only put a tick in box for the digital output (even when I have "Analog" selected).
Now Puppy does not recognize any sound card.
I have already tried the realtek drivers you posted without result.
Do you know what might be causing the problem?
