Laptop keys sticking. What to do?

#1 Post by fixit »

I am having problems with my laptop keyboard.

On some keys, I have to really pound on them.

Would rubbing alcohol be safe to soak the keyboard in ?

What I always do is pry up the key cap (from the top or bottom, not the side); it's usually lint or other debris I can remove with tweezers. Caution: YMMV.
Unless you know that the source of the problem was a liquid spill, I'd doubt that rubbing alcohol would work. I cannot say if it would be safe for the keyboard.

Your Mileage May Vary; in other words, it works for me but I can't say it would work for you (especially if your keyboard has different attachments for the keys).
But it works on both the laptops I own.

No, I did not.

The shock was not that bad.

That is based on cutting a wire going to a a CRT.

I said some really bad words when it happened.

It was 5 years old, so eye thought is was safe.

I even had on insulated gloves.

I thanked God that He let me live another day.

You are a funny guy. :-)

Why.... Thank You! But, assuming the use of 'guy' implies the male gender - how I hate the use of that word as sexless blanket coverage! - what makes you think I'm a bloke? I might be an android !!!
