Why? this app is all script. Did you test?Ted Dog wrote:any hope for 64bit version?
You2pup works (June 2016) YouTube downloader
First random test failed - Selena Gomez - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8uPvX2te0I
Then tested with the Fast and furious trailer, and it works fine.
Are there any limitations?

Sigmund, it may have been because the video name code contains numbers or something, I'm not sure but I fixed that. But some Video cannot get pass Error 403 Forbidden. I guess it's a copyright issue.
Still work for other videos, so not all vids can be downloaded

- Installed the PET on LightHouse64. Each time executed, I get "Aborted". ???
- (53.59 KiB) Downloaded 325 times
I can't figure out two things:
1. from you2pup GUI zigbert's url cannot get pass rxvt .. but I do it dirctly on rxvt yt-download.sh M8uPvX2te0I /tmp. it runs (maybe this is the case of gcmartin also) and find download sites but can't download because:
2. Can't get pass error 403 forbidden
so please people, if anybody can help
thanks

I have tried again by installing the same 2.3 PET on my PhatSlacko that's been running for over a year. I got a different result when I tried a Youtube video. It works to download and its desktop behavior is different.
Tried the same "working" URL in LH64 You2Pup and it continues to abort immediately.
Hope this helps
BTW - Anyone attempted to use this in Slacko64?

I checked this issue. It is the problem of "Encrypted signatures detected" described here https://github.com/rg3/youtube-dl/issues/2307
It is not handled by yt-download.sh.
It is not handled by yt-download.sh.
Version 2.3 works with Lupu 5.2.8.6
You2pup downloads in lupu 5.2.8.6.
Requires X.
Can I use yt-download.sh CLI and pipe to mplayer
rather than starting the download and then typing
mplayer /path/to/*.3gp?
mplayer works in framebuffer.
I can use youtube-viewer (from gtk-youtube-viewer)
to list available files and then play with mplayer,
no need for X. It is 90K vs 4K for yt-download.sh.
I will test version 2.3 with Puppy 4 and Basiclinux.
Requires X.

you2pup needs gtkdialog
Not usable in Pulp (4.1.2) or Basiclinux.
gtkdialog has dozens of dependencies.
Nice to have a choice of You2pup, youtube-dl,
gtk-youtubeviewer, and movgrab.

Version 2.7.5:
GUI:
- Decided to go with b version which give multiple urls if available in firefox data
- Have to open at least 1 FIREFOX tab/window of Youtube video to make button appear
- Non FIREFOX user can still usse it by copying & pasting video_id
- Now list with title to make user easy
- give info if url(s) is not yet ready in firefox data
Script:
- wget only, no curl
- still can be used in many distros as stand alone cli app (dependecies: bash, wget, dialog)
- Now can grab .webm also
