Generally I have about a dozen frugal install folders on my sda1 partition, having remastered LASSIE 002 to build the iso your script seems to use" find . type 'vmlinuz' 'initrd' exec cp {} /Lassie/iso/" with the result that I have quite a few vmlinuzes and initrds copied to the iso. Will lassie 003 use the same mechanism?

I don't know what Script are you referring to.
More details please.
More details please.

Lazy Puppy,
Ref: Your work on L.A.S.S.I.E
If you are using a recent KMS kernel (Kernel Mode Setting), you can get a
list of valid modes for each connected monitor.
fgrep "" /sys/class/drm/*/modes
fgrep "" /sys/class/drm/*/status will give you connected or not connected
The directory name above modes will give you the deviceid alias "cardx-"
(the deviceid used in lspci) and each output connector name HDMI,etc.
There are other files there also. For each valid mode (resolution), you get
(example: 1920x1080). You do not get the refresh rate since all lcd
monitors (like I have) always use a 60Hz refresh rate. I do not know if
this works on older crt type monitors.
Also check out Alphaos at alphaos.tuxfamily.org for more ideas.

Haven't tried Lassie myself (yet), only just found this thread.
When I installed openshot under slacko I also had to include blender AND inkscape - as in the full blown version of inkscape not the cut down normal version that's included with most puppy's
inkscape is required to create scrolling titles in openshot

You have very buzy with your developments.
And they are great.

I have Ideas, that I still can't get into some code, so I'm trying to publish some work that I was able to code and would be probably useful for other Puppy Linux users.
Who knows?
Maybe the developers did already recognize that *great stuff* -I can see some influence of some of my work done in the past three years in the new Slacko- but as stated it would need to be recoded.
That would be a huge amount of time.
Thanks for your posting,

Hello, Rainer.
I'm trying to get to grips with LP2_Qtractor_0.5.4-1-precise.sfs and LP2_Muse-2.0.sfs but both keep complaining about JACK and/or 'snd-seq-midi' kernel module not being loaded.
Quick check via terminal:
I'm not sure, but to me it looks like all modules required for ALSA are up
and running. Is there anything that I'm missing? Also, when I try to unload Qtractor.sfs (via sfs_load_on_the_fly_2.2) an error message appears and it says that it can't be unloaded because some of the files are still in use.
I checked pmusic, deadbeaf and vlc after that and they were all 'deaf', no sound input was detected, though none of them reported any error about (missing/unknown) audio input.
Restarting X followed by an attempt to unload Qtractor didn't help either, only reboot managed to clear up the mess.
So, I really need some wise words on this.
One more thing. Do I need to load JACK, QT (other dependencies)
as a separate modules or these are already included in (all of) your LP2.sfs packages?
I'm looking forward to your answers.
Thanks, fellow drummer.

Yes, you need to load LP2_QJackCtl_0.3.8-1-precise.sfs and after loading the SFS you need to execute qjackctl to be able to use QTractor/Muse.
Don't do this!
If you want/need to use a later version of sfs_load as it's installed, please post a link to the sfs_load package you want to use and make a request here. This needs to have some modifications for L.A.S.S.I.E. then!
Tough I don't see any needs for a newer version to be used.

Ok.
I have checked this with
LP2_QJackCtl_0.3.8-1-precise.sfs
LP2_Qtractor_0.5.4-1-precise.sfs
LP2_Muse-2.0.sfs
LP2_DeadBeef-0.5.6a-precise.sfs (right now new uploaded, since I just have access to this one atm.).
Everything seems to work fine here (L.A.S.S.I.E. 002).
Tested without using a save file.
First I tested all the mentioned media/audio players which worked fine.
Then I first loaded LP2_QJackCtl_0.3.8-1-precise.sfs and executed qjackctl, so jack was running.
Then I loaded LP2_Qtractor_0.5.4-1-precise.sfs and executed qtractor, which seems to work - though could not test; no files for qtractor, no musical equipment at home. I'd quit qtractor.
Then I loaded LP2_Muse-2.0.sfs and executed muse, which seems to work alsoe - though could not test as well; no files for muse, no musical equipment at home. I'd quit muse.
After this I'd quit and exited qjackctl.
Checking all the mentioned media players was successful again.
What else SFS Mofules did you have loaded additionally?
Here's my list:
LP2_DeadBeef-0.5.6a-precise.sfs
LP2_QJackCtl_0.3.8-1-precise.sfs
LP2_Muse-2.0.sfs
LP2_Qtractor_0.5.4-1-precise.sfs
LP2_VLC-1.1.7-4.8-precise.sfs
LP2_Aqualung_0.9-beta11-precise.sfs
I have tested this also with LP2_VLC-1.1.7-4.8-precise.sfs, which is currently not available to download. It is equal to LP2_VLC117.sfs but it contains the qt 4.8 files insted of qt 4.6 files which is in LP2_VLC117.sfs.
Can't download this atm - not enough bandwidth for uploads and downloads after uploading LP2_DeadBeef-0.5.6a-precise.sfs.
None of the media players did work with qjackctl running.

Hello, RSH.
Thank you for your help and effort in providing detailed testing/info.
I haven't explained clearly what happened, because I was running out of UPS power, after two days off of electrical network. Winter magic, huh?
I should have mentioned that I was testing with both L.A.S.S.I.E. 002 (no save file) and Precise 5.71 w/save2folder. That being said, I can confirm that no built-in player worked in L.A.S.S.I.E. 002 while qjackctl.sfs was loaded. All running fine after unloading jack. Same error occured in Precise but I've loaded different versions of Qtractor/Muse/Qqjackctl and other audio/mm players for testing.
After all, it looks like the proper version of qjackctl/other modules should work fine in L.A.S.S.I.E. 002/Precise 5.71.
Hopefully, I'll be testing this again later tonight, this time with
proper setup.
Thanks again & cheers.

That's weird.
All media players did work with LP2_QJackCtl_0.3.8-1-precise.sfs loaded.
They just didn't work when qjackctl was running.
Probably needs to setup JACK as audio output in the settings of the media players.
Did not test it and don't know if this is possible.
By the way, there is a LP2_Ardour3-3.5.357-i686-precise.sfs that works without the need to load LP2_QJackCtl_0.3.8-1-precise.sfs and/or to run qjackctl.

No, but I gave my old drum kit away for free to a music store collecting instruments for refugees!

Hi, RSH.
Wierd it is. ITMOF QJackctl doesn't even start.
Please, check attached .txt files for error reports. Those two with 'lddout' are captured with your script 'RHS's right click dependencies check'.
All logs captured while LP2_QJackCtl_0.3.8-1-precise.sfs and LP2_Qtractor_0.5.4-1-precise.sfs were loaded via SFS_on_the_fly. (L.A.S.S.I.E. 002)
Thanks.
Griot
EDIT: 11.02.2015. 23:21 CET
Just received an e-mail from my boss and I'm afraid I'll be off network for a few days. Will report back ASAP.
Thanks for Ardour.sfs. Unfortunately, it complains about same issues.

Ok.
I have tested this again with L.A.S.S.I.E. 002 (Web Version, since I'm using a remastered DE Version, though equal to the Web Version).
Also tested with Precise 5.7.1.
Both fresh and clean, no save file.
I don't have any clue why this is working over here but doesn't seem to work at your side.
After looking into your submitted jack_status-message.txt file, I found e.g.:
- could not open component .so '/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/jack/jack_alsa_midi.so': /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/jack/jack_alsa_midi.so: undefined symbol: jack_messagebuffer_add
Please check directory /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu.
This must not be a directory. It must be a symbolic link to the parent directory (./), which the is /usr/lib.
Did you install anything that might had overwritten the symbolic link /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu and made it into a directory?
I'm currently out of ideas now...
By the way: I found the Jack SFS Modules doesn't seem to offer a menu entry.
This is caused by menu category JackAudio, which I'm using in all of my LazY Puppy Systems.
Just edit those SFS Modules and change the entry Categories within the .desktop files to AudioVideo, Audio or AudioEditing etc.
