Regarding compiling from source I was wondering if you have build scripts that could be added or adapted to Woof-CE/petbuilds that Micko started before his recent LoA.BarryK wrote: The next Quirky, compiled completely from source in T2

I am going the "other way", looking outside woof/quirky at an established build system (T2). Everything is already in place in T2, even cross-compile support, and support for thousands of packages, very sophisticated scripts. Easy integration of patches and build and install options.mavrothal wrote:Regarding compiling from source I was wondering if you have build scripts that could be added or adapted to Woof-CE/petbuilds that Micko started before his recent LoA.BarryK wrote: The next Quirky, compiled completely from source in T2
My objective is to build everything in T2, and improve the interaction between my Quirky build system and T2. See my latest post toward this end:
http://bkhome.org/news/?viewDetailed=00132
Note that this approach will be easy to port to woof-CE. Essentially, there are my upgraded '0pre' and new '0pre-add', plus new and improved templates in 'packages-templates'.
For now, it is a work-in-progress.

The packages currently supported in T2:stavpup wrote:Does http://www.mupdf.com/ built in T2 ?

MuPDF is not supported in T2.
It looks very interesting!

You are correct. There is not even a path /lib/firmware/rtlwifi/. I'm assuming that's where it should be; I looked up where TahrPup keeps it for comparison. So, what should I do now, I'm not sure.rcrsn51 wrote:This driver needs a firmware file rtlwifi/rtl8188eufw.bin. Maybe it's missing?

I don't know if woof-CE has changed this, but my Quirky build system, a fork of Woof2, has the firmware here:step wrote:You are correct. There is not even a path /lib/firmware/rtlwifi/. Rather than as an external PET. We were in the process of moving firmware out of Woof, but that was incomplete. woof-CE may have progressed in that regard.
Anyway, would you mind posting that firmware file to this forum thread?
I will stick it in, and it will be available in the next Quirky build.

No problem, here's the whole rtlwifi firmware folder from TahrPup 6. The file I needed is rtl8188eufw.bin. ThanksBarryK wrote:Anyway, would you mind posting that firmware file to this forum thread?

I'd been having no problems with the installed Quirky unicorn-6.2-8gb.img, until just now when I tried to boot the 8GB Flash Drive, and...
It wouldn't go to the desktop.
Brought up a warning to run xorgwizard, which I do, BUT...
No matter which screen size and color depth I choose, it fails to succeed in proceeding.
Was forced to stop trying.
Anyone know of a fix?

Most of my effort is happening in my local T2. I am gradually working through adding absolutely every package that we use in a puplet.linuxcbon wrote:Read this http://news.gmane.org/gmane.comp.t2.devel

The end result will be that a pup can be built with using all packages compiled from source, and the only PETs will be the "noarch" ones -- that is, the packages that don't need compiling, such as those using scripts (exs: pburn, pfind) or firmware.
I am working approximately alphabetically, have reached "n"!
I am hoping to have a beta build for users to test, soon. Hopefully by end of 2014.
...maybe a New Year present!
Note that this work should be usable for any woof-built pup, including woof-CE.

Copied my Thunderbird profile from the internal HDD /mnt/sda5/Mail/jwgteb8g.default to /mnt/home/Mail/jwgteb8g.default, and pointed the TB at that new location by edit of the /root/.thunderbird/profiles.ini as I've done many times before for various Puppies in various locations including tahr-6.0-CE_PAE on a 4GB Flash Drive.
See link here for details.
Normally all Puppies with pupsaves on the internal HDD partition sda5 point to the profiles in sda5, but this cannot be done when I'm away from home booting a Puppy from a Flash Drive.
b. The Problem?
For some reason, my profile [1 of 3] has only an EMPTY inbox, and the trash folder.
The content of the other 2 identities seems OK.
Don't know if this has anything to do with Quirky, or something else.
4. When I click in a link/URL in an email in TB, why does it fail to take me to a new tab in Seamonkey?
quirky qfix=bak fixed it.ETP wrote:Hi Sylvander,

Try the last one first. If that fails try the first.

@Sylvander,
Did you for example change "IsRelative=1" to "IsRelative=0" (non-relative/full path).
Please post a copy of the profiles.ini
Having sorted out the profiles.ini, if it is still happening
in TB visit preferences/attachments/incoming/content type.
Select link/URL then in the Action panel browse to usr/local/bin and click on
"defaultbrowser"
or (Try this first)
Send youself a email (Ctrl+N) containing a hyperlink (Copy the one at the top of this page)
Give it a few seconds then get mail.
Right click the hyperlink then "choose" and browse to usr/local/bin/defaultbrowser.
Tick the box to remember your choice for HTTP links before pressing O/K.

1. "Did you for example change "IsRelative=1" to "IsRelative=0" (non-relative/full path)."
a. Yes.
Here's the content of my /root/.thunderbird/profiles.ini file:
Was that the right thing to do?
b. I notice there's an additional /Mail/jwgteb8g.default folder that I didn't copy to that location.
Aught I to be using this as the address within the profiles.ini file?
I'll give it a try and see what happens after I reboot and run TB.
NO, that didn't work, Quirky wouldn't boot after the change, so I used a 2nd Puppy to change the content of the Quirky profiles.ini [in the 2nd partition on the Flash Drive] back to the previous way, and now it boots OK.

Did almost, but not quite, exactly this to get it working.
Difference was: link/URL didn't exist, so used http.
It works fine.
Did I do right?
a. Yes.

Code: Select all
[General]

[Profile0]
Name=default
IsRelative=0
Path=/mnt/home/Mail/jwgteb8g.default

@Sylvander,
Thanks for sight of your ini. The issue here is that Quirky is a full install,
in this case to the second partition on the USB stick. As such there is no such
concept as placing something outside of your savefile because you don't have one.
Please see screenshot below which shows how TB would normally look after install.
(IIRC the XXXXXXXX.default file is created upon first launch.
All you need to do once you have got back to that position is to delete the
XXXXXX.default file in /.thunderbird and replace it with your own that contains the
accounts together with their data.
Then edit just the letters in the final line of profiles.ini to match your file.
(IsRelative should remain as 1 and no path is needed)

That's done, and it works, EXCEPT...
All but 2 folders are still missing from the 1st of the three identities.
The other 2 identities are complete methinks.
This is strange, because the profile folder I'm copying over and using, doesn't have those email folders missing within TB when used in all the various other Puppies.

Good Morning Sylvander,
Things seem to be slowly getting better.
Given that other Pups can see all the mail folders I guess that this must be a either
a filtered view or indexing issue.
For starters here are 6 possible solutions to try:
