Installing Microsoft True Type Core Fonts in Puppy...?

Installing ttf fonts in the fonts directory,apparently, is not enough.
When the site bhulekh is browsed for property cards it uses the complex scripts to render Marathi characters in windows. I do not know how one will be able to accomplish this in puppy precise.

I have downloaded the .exe it provides for installing the scripts.
But I do not have expertise to extract it and see or understand what's in it.

Ok loaded my Opera25.sfs and chromium39.sfs on my Fatdog64.

The site is rendered OK in them.

But not in Firefox or Seamonkey.

May be need some extension or plugin that would render the fonts.

Sorry about my Opera and Chromium report.
They only render initial page Ok,
but when I click and select any district on the map It says ,
"Note: Indic Support is Required for Devnagari Display. If your client is not indic enabled please run INDIC SUPPORT and Click on Install Complex Scripts."
And if I continue it doesn't render fonts properly.

I have fonts installed on my system.
I got them mostly from http://www.indlinux.org/wiki/index.php/IndicFontsList
I also saw what Keisha gave, those are already present on my system.

Surprisingly Firefox and Seamonkey now also render the first page correctly.
I don't know how. May be just needed reboot.


When I tried searching for indic support Firefox addon.
I found this in some addon's description...
"Note: Proper viewing of Indic text requires a patched browser. Ubuntu, Debian and Fedora ship with the patched Firefox.
WinXP requires setting up the Complex Text Rendering support for Indic Scripts. Visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:INDIC for details instructions for all platforms."

Then I saw
"Some web browsers may require you to enable Pango rendering to view Indic text properly.
The easiest way to check whether --enable-pango was used in your copy of Firefox is to type about:buildconfig in the address bar and to look for the string (--enable-pango)."

I checked in my firefox and it doesn't have pango.

I will also try to look at what semme suggested.

Saying you have libpango, try this Neeraj >> MOZ_ENABLE_PANGO=1, then append the line in /etc/profile and reload X.

The wiki link I posted also said the same thing, but it also said it won't work if I don't find --enable-pango in about:buildconfig of Firefox.
That's why I didn't try it.

Executing MOZ_ENABLE_PANGO=1 seems to have fixed the issue.
I will now append it to /etc/profile.

Aha--that's why it worked for me. I enabled MOZ_ENABLE_PANGO=1 in /etc/profile so long ago I had forgotten about ...nope, I'm wrong, I have MOZ_DISABLE_PANGO=1 in /etc/profile. The site is nevertheless visible after installing vicmz's indic fonts pet I alluded to above. I'm using firefox esr channel, currently at version 31.4.0, in Quirky Unicorn 6.21.

Hi Keisha,
With fonts only you can see the first page OK.
But for next page which you get when you click on Districts shown in the Map, you need MOZ_ENABLE_PANGO=1.

Have you tried clocking on the map?

No, I still can't see the Property Cards drilldown page. Not even with MOZ_ENABLE_PANGO=1 and the Indic fonts installed.

Of course, it is not really a relevant problem for me.
