pBurn 4.3.19
I downloaded pburn 4.3.11 and installed in racy 5.4.9
however I got an error message when I tried to burn a Deadbeef m3u playlist using 'Import (play)list'.
I uninstalled and used the old version of pburn that came with racy.
The burn went well.
I've attached the logs and playlist so you can study.

in addition to the above post:
0) original need is: to blank a DVD-RW to burn an ISO as burniso2cd requires a blank disk;
1) got the same behaviour ( =>see above post) and error messages using pBurn-3.7.18 (pristine install) and 4.3.10 and 4.3.11 on Tahr-6.0; as well on wheezy-3.5.2.11.
2) have found this
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 163730b3d8
3) workaround: I could get the DVD-RW blanked running this in console: (sr1 is the current burner)
4)question: digging inside /usr/local/pburn/func_build_command ...
it seems that the «burn complete» options to be activable only for CD mediatype, not for DVD ... isn't?
thanks for any advice !
Cheers, Charlie

Sorry, I have missed your posts
When it comes to blanking of DVD's it seems hard to find the universal command. I did some more testing of dvd-rw-format today, but could succeed on my system....
pBurn support complete blanking of DVD. You'll see the command in the 'Advanced' tab in the blanking window . I am interested in any DVD-blanking knowledge

Burniso2cd burns an iso for me, on any kind of re writable disk, without having to blank the disk first. So does Pburn, for that matter. The only problem I ever got from overwriting whatever was on the disk was when I tried to make an exact copy of a re writable DVD I had used for many other things before using Burniso2cd to burn a Puppy iso onto. The "exact copy" copied everything that was on the disk, even the stuff that came after the end of the Puppy iso and was no longer in the disk's table of contents. So "exact copy" wound up filling an entire DVD instead of the first few hundred MB as I had expected. The copy did work, Puppy booted and worked fine, but there was no room left on the disk to write anything else.
Had problems in Tahr Pup .
Can not burn Videos to DVD with Pburn .
Missing FFmpeg .

Hi, backi
Open it with pupzip or any archive app and extract the individual files in it to usr/bin. If for some reason it extracts the indiv files to a folder, just select each file in the folder, cut them out and paste them in /usr/bin.
Then open a terminal and type ffmpeg and see if it is installed and working.
You'll get it...

Made it working !

Is one DVD media better suited for video, than another?
This may be a little outside of the pBurn thread's mission, but, if I wanted to copy any video to a disc media, is there a recommendation of media (not brand) type to use; namely DVD+R or DVD-R?
Thanks in advance for any knowledge on this.
Thanks in advance for any knowledge on this.
I've tried them both and couldn't tell any difference. I think the original set-top DVD players wouldn't read a +R, but surely they're all gone. I think Sony invented the +R, so they naturally try to make it sound better. It may have some technical advantages, but I don't think they make much real-world difference.
Minus R, hands down, no contest.
Plus R is a competing standard to Minus R, and as far as I know, no DVD player actually is compatible with it. (I could be wrong there -- for sure, though, I've never seen one that bragged about it enough for me to notice!) Plus R behaves kind of like everyone's least favorite uncle -- likable enough and kinda funny (although sometimes you wonder if he might be just the very slightest bit senile), but he won't stop hovering and leave you be until you actually ask him to -- which always takes forever because everyone is far too polite to actually do it until it's absolutely necessary.
TBH the fact that this was even brought up is kind of sad... statistically speaking, nobody uses Plus R stuff. No, seriously, more people used Macs in the late Nineties than use Plus R media today... (The preceding statement has not been tested for scientific accuracy, but "two out of three scientists agree that it probably sort of sounds right". YMMV. )
tl;dr +R stuff isn't really meaningly useful and it won't go away.

Hi don 570
Yes Pburn can delete files .
I prefer using DVD +RW for Videos and other Music or data .You don`t need to delete this DVD type when burning a video for DVD player (you will be asked to overwrite older data).
Dont close the session.
You can burn other data in multi-session way.It means you can add data to previous stored data.
But in "Burn Video" mode there is no multi-session possible.Means older data will be overwritten (if i am correct).
It is also possible to delete and format (completely) a DVD +RW.
Not quite sure what is the exact difference between deleting and formatting.
Deleting is faster but not so complete somehow.

Hey Zigbert
There's a problem with displaying Pburn's SVG icon in Fatdog's menu (razor-panel).
Apparently it doesn't like Version="1.1", but it's perfectly fine with Version="1.0".
Also, GTK in Fatdog has some problems with displaying stock icons in window's title bar.
But it's ok if one use the new naming convention, e.g. icon-name=\"media-optical\" instead of icon-name=\"gtk-cdrom\" (more info).
From what I checked it should be backward compatibile.
If it's not much of a hassle and it won't affect other Puppies, it would be nice to have at least the first issue fixed in next release(s).
Thanks &
Greetings!

Yeah, looks like xml version="1.1" is a bug because it's at version 1.0, see here and here even though svg is at version 1.1 (Second Edition).
From my observations, it appears gtk+-2.0 is happy to let the bug through but QT4 and EFL (enlightenment) are not.
NB: if you open svg's in a browser they can give a hint to possible errors.
