Chromium v83 with pepper-flash **RUNS-AS-SPOT**
Is there a version of Chromium for Lucid Puppy 528, I've been trying just about every suggestion on the forums and have gone all over the internet in search of one. Firefox updates itself making it a pleasure to use, but for those of us that aren't tech savvy what are we supposed to do... and it appears I'm not the only one. Slacko and some of the others have choices but Lucid doesn't seem to I've updated the package manager, nothing there, anyhow thanks in advance guys..

Your only choice with Lucid Puppy is maybe an old version (maybe try 28 ) as the fundamental components of Lucid are no longer supported by Chromium.Jude wrote:Is there a version of Chromium for Lucid Puppy 528, I've been trying just about every suggestion on the forums and have gone all over the internet in search of one. Carolina was in the same position and I think some work has gone on there to retrofit newer os components alongside the older ones to make chromium/chrome work. Whether this could be applied to Lucid I'm unsure.
The best approach would be to identify that work on the Carolina thread and then ask on both the Carolina and Lucid thread whether it can be applied to Lucid....somebody might be interested.
If I get a chance I'll try to find the posts and edit this post.

That's kind a what i thought I've tried the updated versions of Lucid 528.005 528.006 and they all have the same Package manger. That's why i asked earlier on "in a different thread" about a possible upgrade to the Package Manager. If Lucid has been abandoned theirs really no sense in pursuing this any longer as the other versions of Puppy Linux won't work on my machine..
Thank you all for your support it is much appreciated..

Well I've found something else to take my mind off Chromium for a while, how's about Puppy Crypt 528. Sounds like a project that a lot of work went into, and according to the intro it makes you anonymous on the internet.. maybe Chromium will work here?

Re: chromium_38.0.2125.101 + pepperflash_15.0.0.152
Hi, everyone
I'm using using Chromium_37.0.2062.120+pepper_15.0.0.152_lx.sfs on LxPup14.03, Slacko flavour. This combo works well for me. Is it okay for me to keep on using it, or do I need to update for security reasons?peebee wrote:chromium_38.0.2125.101 + pepperflash_15.0.0.152
THIS VERSION WILL ONLY WORK ON "MODERN" PUPPIES - LxPup14.09, LxTahrPup, Slacko6Beta2, TahrPup5.8.3

I'm not aware of any big security reason to move from Chromium37 to Chromium39.....
There have been a few security updates (openssl, bash and wget) to Linux and you would get these if you moved to LxPup14.12 which would allow you to then also move to Chromium39
You don't say what kind of install you have.....frugal or full and on what medium - usb, hdd, cd/dvd???
If you have a frugal install (savefile) then I wouldn't recommend doing an upgrade from 14.03 to 14.12 as there have been lots of "under the hood" changes which mean your savefile is unlikely to upgrade successfully
If you do decide to upgrade then I suggest a new frugal install with a fresh savefolder would be the way to go.

Running in Carolina Vanguard (most recent ver as of about a week ago when I downloaded it) with Chromium SFS from this thread. About Chromium reports:
I went to Paypal.com a few minutes ago, and when it tries to load the stupid vine/video/whatever multimedia crap in the middle of the page, the tab becomes completely unresponsive and I have to kill it. Trying to login directrly from the login page (Google "paypal login" > relevant page > enter details, click Log In button) bypasses the multimedia crap but still kills the tab the same way.
Paypal's site works with the Firefox built into Vanguard.
This is the first time I've accessed the site with Vanguard, but in X-Slacko 2.2 and the same SFS there were no problems.
Can anyone else reproduce this, or recommend a fix? (I'll gladly upgrade to the newest Chromium if it will run in Vanguard... dunno...)
EDIT: fixed by upgrading to Chromium 40. Hmm, guess it was just a "we don't support last week's browser" sort of thing... that sucks
