re: full install

#1 Post by muggins »

hello regulars,

i'm a bit lost as to what has happened to pups universal installer. I've tried
several different versions & the full install option either doesn't work at all,
or only half completes. Has anybody any ideas on what has changed?

cheers

The one in Tahrpup 6.0.2 CE worked for me.
Running it now.

Slacko 5.7 universal installer is a little buggy with full installs.
I had to try it several times before it finally did it correctly.

A clean freshly formatted partition seems to eliminate issues.

Having any hardware age issues?

If you are doing a lot of Puppy installs and removals. I have seen it necessary to actually write zeros to the hard drive to totally get old Puppy files removed before formatting.
As a general rule,[NB 2] formatting a disk leaves most if not all existing data on the disk medium; some or most of which might be recoverable with special tools.[4] Special tools can remove user data by a single overwrite of all files and free space.[5]
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
When I was a kid I wanted to be older.... This is not what I expected
YaPI(any iso installer)
