How to edit a document scanned with Peasy Scan?

#1 Post by NETTKNUT »

I have used peasy scan to scan a simple text document which I want to edit in my word processor. I would welcome any help on how to do this. My machine is a an ESPRIMO P5905 3GHz and I am using an HP PSC (printer scanner copier) 1205. I have got the scanned document on my machine but it is not in a txt format. In fact it appears in root as small brown postage stamp size image. Left clicking opens the original file image and right clicking opens a set of commands in ROX filer. But I am lost.. Thanks for any help.

You need to do OCR (Optical Character Recognition) over the image, because that image it's just like a photo of the original document.
For OCR there are special sofware that needs to be installed on Puppy.
But, why don't you try this first: http://www.onlineocr.net/

Hope it helps.

peasy scan

To: Galbi. Thanks for your reply but it does not help me much without the name and full details of the relevant puppy linux software required. I managed to do the same thing about a year ago using peasy scan etc. as on puppy, but I forget how. There was no need for any external utility. I am reluctant to use some unknown external software because of the prevalence of malware .Thanks.

Sorry, yesterday I was a bit in a hurry but wanted to suggest something to start with.
Today I've found this:

I haven't tested, not in Puppy right now.

The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
