VMware player 5.0.4 installation error on Puppy tahr64 6.0.5

#1 Post by seneka77 »

I've got problem during VMware player 5.0.4 installation on Puppy linux tahr64 6.0.5 (latest version right now)
Through quickpet drives me to download page of VMware player.
Then follow the Daniel Kim's guide in : http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=51278

Everything going good, but at the time to start the application got the following window error:
----
Unable to start services.

See log file /tmp/vmware-root/vmware-modconfig-4627.log for details.
---
The log file is long (cannot attached here) but I put here some lines:

hi seneka77,

are you sure you are using tahrpup64? as tahrpup64 doesn't have quickpet... click on the help icon on the desktop to see which puppy version.

you'll first need the devx.sfs and kernel sources.sfs installed then....

this version works on tahrpup64 https://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/free#d ... layer/12_0
Bionicpup64 built with bionic beaver packages http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=114311
Xenialpup64, built with xenial xerus packages http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=107331

Thanks a lot for the detailed answer. Right I've already installed the devx and kernel sfs. I'll try with the 12 version as you advice me.
Right now don't remember how I installed the quickpet precise on tahrpup64, I think it was through the Puppy Package Manager.
First I've tried the tahrpup 32 bits and I see the tool very useful so I look for it to use in tahr64.
Yesno doubt about it, I checked now, is tahrpup64 version...
Thanks again for the quick reply. Cheers!

Looks like an error in the vmware-usbarbitrator 15.1.7, no idea how to fix it.
Good advices will be appreciated, thanks.
