Downloaded and istalled from iso using iso2frugal installer.
This is a very very fast distro!! And beautiful icon set. I really like the saveconfig file starting at the beginning of the session.
I could not connect to wireless using frisbee or sns ... but my own wlan-connect worked first time.
Tried cups which invoked browser download, and downloaded and after finding the chrome.deb in tmp installed it and ran from menu.
used ppm to install fslint and xinput (xinput is working correctly. Yay!)
But yad version is too old!
Video is smooth and handles high quality video. Sound ok too.
EDIT: Wifi-Connect-5 much improved!!

Hola josejp2424.
pfind does not work in this "jibaro". / pfind ne fonctionne pas dans ce "jibaro".
(Jo no hablar espanol. Excuza mio.)
I found two "find": one in /bin one in /usr/bin. I removed the one in /usr/bin, but
pfind 5.12 still does not work. I tried pfind 5.11 and it does not work either.
The find utility itself works ok.
So does the "searchmonkey" application that I installed as a replacement.
~~~
I tried to install notecase (the old free version 1.9.x), but it persists in making any
document I load in it "non editable". This has never happened to me before. I am
running as "root", of course, as usual.
~~~
The mouse sometimes takes "an eternity" to move. To such an extent that I thought
that my hardware mouse was broken. It is not.
~~~
ROX-Filer is sometimes a slow-poke to react. Not as much as the mouse, but
slow:
-- if I use it after I have used another program for a long time, or
-- if I create a "hotkey" for an icon,
it looks as though ROX-Filer has to "wake up" before it reacts normally.
~~~
gnome-mplayer does not remember my changes in the parameters, such as "play
list underneath", when I restart it.
~~~
This is the first Debian-Jessie Pup that we have at this time, which is an
achievement in and of itself.
Hats off to josejp2424!
A la manana.
Hmmm... Pfind, mouse, WiFi (Frisbee) and Rox appear to all be working normally here. Odd!
The only issues I'm seeing so far (1 hour into a liveCD session) is the Openbox desktop's right-click menu appears to be incomplete, only displaying the desktop-switching component, and none of the usual expanding-tree menu. And a quick attempt of playing an mp3 in Pmusic failed (although Gnome Mplayer worked OK).
Also seems to be some conflict between the "Customize Look and Feel" and "Font Manager" utilities' font/anti-aliasing settings. JWM vs. Openbox issue?
Otherwise - this is simply a fantastic Puppy!! Modern base in Debian Jesse, Openbox/Lxpanel (with the RAM taskbar applet working again - YaY!), light and very speedy, aesthetically very clean and pleasant... what's not to like? The browser downloader/installer script worked perfectly from the desktop pinboard, as well.
Felicidades, josejp2424!
I feel this Puppy might be better announced upstairs in the main, English-speaking forum - giving greater exposure to this fine Pup, and maybe help get more members involved with testing/bug squashing/etc. this offering out of beta stage.
Great work, josejp2424.
Thanks. The devx I downloaded has the same md5sum as this BUT the devx does not load.josejp2424 wrote:devx MD5: d47c093326c9080e85b0394e4c9b89fd devx_jessie_6.4.0.sfs
The prompt in terminal looks strange.
ffmpeg does not link to libx264 and creating a symlink does not work (symbol error).
As for me, I cannot load the devx properly either through the boot manager or sfs_load.
It looks as though it stays in the "queue".
Also, the evince (pdf document viewer) cannot load any pdf document in this pupjibaro.
I tried several times, with different documents, formated in various types of pdf version,
and they simply don't load. All these documents load fine in the older wheezy-pup 3.5.8
however.
I hope this gives Jose some pointers on what to improve.
Astalavista.
Hm.
Hello jose.
Here are the libraries missing in the "ex-factory" pupjibaro-jessie-beta (i.e. loaded
without any pupsave or [a|f|y]drive).
I do know that the "poppler" library is an active ingredient in processing pdf files.
It probably accounts for part of the evince problems I have reported above.
On the other hand, if I type, I get. Strange...
I obtained this list by typing in a terminal:Nineteen ( 19 ) libraries seem to be missing from this pupjibaro-jessie-beta.
In the list below, the [...] indicate repeats.
libparted-fs-resize.so.0 is incomplete since there is no file libparted-fs-resize.so.0.
I hope this helps. Best of luck!
Astalavista.
Hello josejp2424 and all.
This is a great page to search specifically for Debian Jessie packages:
-- https://packages.debian.org/search?suit ... esize.so.0 --
Once there, just replace the flename you are looking for.
BFN.
The petget on this pupjibaro seems to fail at loading rpm packages. UExtract needs to
be used to unpack the rpm's and then the contents copied to the proper directories.
An "unrpm" utility or plugin is needed because the Debian Jessie repo does not carry
all the missing libraries listed above. I found some as rpm's at packgs.org.
Hello josejp2424 -- and all.
In view of the reports above, these may save you a lot of time, especially
-- https://www.adrive.com/public/Zvwbzq/bi ... tes.zip.lz --
the libs in directory "biblios_manquantes-1" [missing_libraries-1].
The libs in "biblios_manquantes-2" are relevant to my set-up of your jibaro. I'm
including them in case they are useful to someone in the future.
This is a "zip.lz" archive so you will need lzip to unpack it. (Please see attached.)
The contents are as follows:
Still problematic are:
and attach it when I find it again. I don't know where to find suitable jpg and tiff
libs for the netpbm suite, of which pnmtojpeg, etc., are a part.
I hope this helps. Astalavita.
I hope this helps. Astalavita.
Hello all.
With the new poppler, etc. libraries, evince does work, but "Take a shot" cannot take a
screen shot of it. I had to use the tried and true < mtpaint -s > to get the attached.
So this is ¾ of a success! We continue!
Good luck Jose.
- With the proper poppler lib, evince runs ok now. The error panel to the left is about the "Take a shot" utility: screenshots cannot be saved with "tas" at this time. Is it "tas" itself or the "perrito"?
