Google Drive crashes Slacko in old Eee PC netbook

#1 Post by kerl »

Google's online office (drive.google.com) crashes my 'Eee pc'netbook with Slacko Puppy. I'm using Seamonkey browser. It seems like this online office is incompatible with old machines.
Is there any walkaround to work offline with a compatible office and just synchronize with their servers?

BTW Firefox, Chrome and pretty much any modern browser compatible with Google drive don't work on machines with old processors without sse2 like mine

Palemoon, Firefox, Chromium, Opera.. did not get to run. I seem to remember newer versions from 2014 onwards dont support old processors without sse2.
I'm using Seamonkey and Slimjet. When I try to use Google office Puppy freezes and I have to reset. Really, I think their cloud service is not compatible with old machines

Have you tried Slacko for the EEEpc ?

This one is based on Slacko 5.7. The browser is configured FF27 that only allows TLS security. But its possible that google-drive wants only the latest browser.

Heaven forbid the browser is a month old

Thanks. I'll give it a go.
Yes, Google Drive only works with latest versions.

-I'll try to run it on offline mode and sychronize with their servers from time to time. I think the fact that spreadsheets try to recalculate all the time causes a lot of ram-cpu-esque pain.
-Another solution to investigate is Libre Office which has an option to save/sync with Google Drive. The only problem I see is that you can't use googlesheets functions within LO
-Another option could be an Android emulator?
