Personally I set things to have no desktop icons. I add my most common programs to the panel (alongside the MENU) and use pcmanfm as a file manager that shows the drives alongside bookmarked locations in the left hand panel. I also like to have the panel at the top of screen

The scripts from https://github.com/DebianDog/SFSget work also in DebianDog64?
Do you have them as squashfs files elsewhere?
The scripts there are a little different than on DD64, but I'll try to upgrade these packages for DD64 if there is a need for it.trister wrote:Thanks for the updates.

No repository of SFS-modules for DD64, if that's what you mean, sorry, not enough time.Do you have them as squashfs files elsewhere?
Fred
I did not understand you post. I thought your post :fredx181 wrote: The scripts there are a little different than on DD64, but I'll try to upgrade these packages for DD64 if there is a need for it.
Meant that you had already made the 64bit upgrades.fredx181 wrote: Upgradable packages:

Yes this is what I meant -but I can make them squashfs files myself If I have them.fredx181 wrote: No repository of SFS-modules for DD64, if that's what you mean, sorry, not enough time.

You thought well, I did upgrade the packages (with the same fixes I also made for DD32 (and on github), see for them in synaptic, or with apt-get
I just meant if there are fixes needed for these packages in the future for DD64, I'll make upgradable packages again.
Hope it's clear now.

Hi trister, you are welcome!
As described here I had problems specially with deactivating, sometimes crashing some running processes e.g. xfce4-panel (see Details:)
https://github.com/DebianDog/SFSget/blo ... 2016%29.md
To be honest I tested only on DD 32 bit, maybe on DD64 it's different.
Since you are probably one of the few people using SFS's, please tell me if you find a problem on DD64 , it depends on how you load them (probably loading permanent at every boot, modules placed in the 'live' folder is perfectly OK)

I have another question - had this since the first days I started using puppy and sfs.
I know the process of putting the sfs/squashfs in a specific folder for running during boot.
My question is this : would it be possible/easy to "activate/mount" a squashfs file from a remote pc (eg with ftp,http...)?
This is the process that would be very helpfull
eg
1.init process
2.load squashfs from live folder
3.load squashfs from a remote location
4.continue with the init process
I am not interested in application updates ( I could use debian update process for that) I want this process to load my custom configuration updates.
Thanks again
Character rendering
I've noticed that some applications will mistakenly render 1/2 or 1/4 as numeric fractions. For example, entering url file:/// in firefox shows numeric fraction one-half in some of the directory timestamps. I've included an image here of the effect.
I ran locale-gen to recreate the UTF-8 system but it had no effect.
Here's the results of running locale and everything looks normal.
root@jessie64:~# locale -a
C
C.UTF-8
en_US.utf8
POSIX
Anybody have any ideas for a fix?
Thanks.

Noticed some bugs in full install..
I really love full install since i have 2GB RAM 1.66ghz quadcore processor and 320GB SSD.. But I noticed that swap dont activate in full install.. So I did it manually by adding: swapon /dev/sda3.. On Xsession.. How to fix it?

Hi ARModer64,
Btw, there is a mistake I made leaving some lines in fstab, these worked for me, but not for anyone else, so /etc/fstab should be empty.
Not sure if that's your question, but what you can do best is to delete everything in /etc/fstab and then put this line in it for swap sda3 to automatic activate at boot:

Yes, well, I would call it a shortcoming, not a bug, but it would be nice indeed if the full-installer looks for swap and add an entry in /etc/fstab.Noticed some bugs in full install..

Hi pelo !
i think has nothing to do with your save-file .
Yesterday i tried to upgrade Xenial Dog...... encountered the same problem (so i think )........
my Machiene has only 1 Gigabyte Ram......not enough as it seems for that job .
I think this " 'caution 30 mbs only free' " means only 30 mbs of Ram are left ....increase my pupsave to 500MB failed. File. dat size is well 500MB but i have a 'caution 30 mbs only free' on my desktop.

Also, I'd like to post some more squashfs file (just put them in the /live/ folder)
XnViewMP_v084-linux-x64_deb.squashfs https://1fichier.com/?7o0l6dehqi
chromium-55.0.2883.75-1~deb8u1.squashfs https://1fichier.com/?h7zd2fdxfe
Some made just using apt2sfs:
dosbox_dosemu.squashfs https://1fichier.com/?c14cg1fqx3
viewnior_gthumb_mirage_phototonic_apt2sfs.squashfs https://1fichier.com/?i3f7itbgzw
This isn't urgent in anyway, everything still works.
I got some errors when upgrading my Chrome Remaster. I think it is related to the kernel upgrader, which I've installed.
These are pasted out of Synaptic. I ran the upgrade once and got the first message and some packages were not upgraded yet. So I ran it again and got the second set of errors.
I then attempted to run the kernel upgrade (which has worked before) and got the following (see attached screenshot).
Thanks,
Dan
