Screen turns off while watching video (Solved)

#1 Post by puppy_king »

Hi,
The monitor is going to standby mode while watching videos. How do I disable this ? Didn't find anything power related in the menu.

There is a menu entry (Menu Desktop?) PupX Settings (or similar) to switch screensaver to off.

No, but I gave my old drum kit away for free to a music store collecting instruments for refugees!

I think this protection is built in the hardware. It's not the same screen-
saver. Just move the mouse a little when it happens.

You do not want to disable it because one day you'll forget to turn your
computer off and when you come back after your vacation or other, your
monitor will be useless.

Hello puppy_king.

In gmplayer you can turn off the X Screen Saver. (See attached pic.)
Couldn't find the same in gnome-mplayer's preferences, though.

Also exists in vlc. (See other pic.)

But as I said above, turning off the software screen-saver from the media
player or from the general menu doesn't affect the hardware one written in
your monitor's ROM.

IHTH

Sorry for the French, but I'm sure you'll find it.

I don't think this is a hardware feature coz this doesnt happen under Debian.
Disable screensaver is already selected in vlc's preferences.
