#1 Post by Previously known as Guest »

Required libs are gtkmm-2.8.8: oo extension to gtk, needed by inkscape(3.4mB) in puppy's package manager.

EDIT1: Just noticed that the original subject was changed (not by me!!) Set it back as was & added the comment about vector graphic.

EDIT2:
updated links
Link1
Complete: without inkview & tutorials.
2.9M
Inkscape-cutdown-0.45.1.pup
This adds inkview & tutorials.
4.7M
Inkscape-addon-0.45.1.pup
Add locales.1836KB
Inkscape-LOCALE-0.45.1.pup

good stuff :D
have added to the wiki front page (the previous link was faulty)
http://puppylinux.org/wikka/PuppyLinuxMainPage

For many simple tasks inklite (in Puppy) is fine

people might also like XaraX (I much prefer it)
I hope Xara continue developing it at the moment they are developing the Windows version (which you have to pay for)
http://puppylinux.org/wikka/XaraLX

Have you tried both?

Thanks Lob. It may need testing to confirm for others.
I tested in a fresh 2.13 frugal install.

& yes, I preferred Xara until I tried the .44 series & especially the .45 pre series & I was sold. Inkscape was the only app that would somewhat accurately convert a bitmap into vector graphic. :)

I may try to slim it down if there is a demand.

Something I didn't like about .43 (in puppy) was when checking the help about screen, it mentioned that so much space was saved but didn't give the actuall version.

.45 has improved quite a bit.

Again this is huge & not for everyone. YMMV.

I just released a development snapshot of Grafpup along with Inkscape-0.45, which I managed to slim down to 7260 K uncompressed by cuttin out various extra stuff like language files and extra svg files. You might want to take a loot at the package to see where things can safely be cut. I'd say use my package but it uses gtk-2.10, so no don't do it. The packae can be downloaded from here:
http://www.bubbleletter.org/downloads/g ... .45.tar.gz
Most of the stuff to tear out is in $PREFIX/share/inkscape, and I also removed Inkview.

And oh yes, this is a fantastic release for the Inkscape project. It includes one of the first filters for svg graphics, the gaussian blur filter. The start of a trend. Lots of other little small changes, too. Lots to be happy about. :D

Seems like you're beating me to it. :)

As far as a shrinked down version, I'll take a look at your release. I saw the gtk-2.10 thing, but you're much closer than I even considered. Great work!! & keep it up. :)

Very interesting . . .

The Xara code has probably been added (and from the sound of it) superceded. I know the teams are working together and influence each other. A commercial company and a team of 'got together through the net' both using open source. It is a Win-Win situation (NB: sorry to use the Win word)

I will try your Inkscape because the trace in Xara has not been implemented yet and I miss it . . . :D
Thanks for the info and putting the .pup together

I am downloading Grafpup test release and 2.14 Beta should be out today.

Are we having fun yet?.

That's why I stuck it in a separate package :D

Can you repost inkscape and the one that includes inkview?
http://www.eggdisk.com/files/343328_xwn ... 0.45.1.pup
This url just takes me to a page that wants me to sign up for something.
I'm currently using Puppy 3.01 retro and have installed "inkscape-0.43_STATIC_GTKMM.pet" But inkview is nowhere to be found.
This version of Inkscape works fine, but it's also missing inkview.
I've tried some RPM inkscape packages and the included inkview sends me down the road to dependency heck. (I had a better word, but edited it out). :)
Inkscape 0.46 is available now. I've got it running on win-xp. I haven't learned how to compile stuff on linux yet.
I also have Inkscape 0.43 running on my Zaurus, but it is way too heavy for a 416MHz Arm processor and 64mb ram.. :(

EDIT:
I went back to the eggdisk site and signed up, and got my confirmation email, but the link to the files above just take me back to the signup page.

It might not be available for long as I'm in process of moving to different host as I type this.

I haven't had time to update to new version, someone will probably put out an updated version soon.

Thank you very much! :)
I wasn't sure which one I wanted, so I opened the directory in a browser, looked at the file sizes, and figured out that:
Inkscape-cutdown-0.45.1.pup + Inkscape-addon-0.45.1.pup = Inkscape-0.45.1.pup (in file size).
So I downloaded Inkscape-0.45.1.pup

Hi guys
all the above links don't work. Could someone post newer ones? The grafpup one does work but its a cutdown version and doesn't include half the addons.
Thanks
P.s if you place new links I could mirror them.
