pClock 0.7.2 - Time tools
Hello Zigbert,
Thank you for your quick and clear answer.
Yes, your suggestion is what I initially tried but ran into multiple road blocks such as there is no 'delete' function active when attempting to delete the clock format code lines in jmw-tray and there is no /usr/local/jwm_config/tray listed in the system. I wish I had the tray configuration that you show in your screenshot, but, it's appears nowhere in this system.
So, I did a 'restore master backup' this way: JWMDesk/Profile/back up profiles/jwmrc-personal/restore. This cleared the tray of my personal apps including the offending PupClockset coding. Then I reinstated personal apps through the jmwdesk/launcher tab per usual procedure. Hopes this helps someone else with a similar glitch.
PS -
Edit: I'm running a 32bit OS on a 64bit machine, if that makes any difference?
The machine is DMI: Hewlett-Packard HP HDX 18 Notebook PC/3610, BIOS F.24 06/16/2009

Not sure if this is important but I'll report it anyhow.
Version .71 is included in hungarian version of precise puppy
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=93679
When I launched it with the terminal program rather than by the
start menu
I got the following message repeated endlessly when I first ran it..

The message stopped when I pressed the 'Alarm' icon.cat: /root/.pclock/tmp/timer: No such file or directory

BarryK doesn't use pmusic in pyro64 so I made small change
I was able to get pclock to work in pyro64 v0.6
by installing pclock 0.7.2
Then changing one line to recognize the music player from pmusic to 'defaultmediaplayer' (or xinewrapper)
Code: Select all
pschedule -s -e "defaultmediaplayer '$ALARM'" "music Alarm" &
There is a splash screen which I can't get rid of but that's okay with me.Code: Select all
pschedule -s -e "xinewrapper '$ALARM'" "music Alarm" &

There is also /usr/local/bin/defaultaudioplayer, which would be more exact substitution.
zigbert,
Are you planning to release a new version of pclock with this change?
Otherwise, I will create a modified version for my noarch repo.

Hi zigbert,
many thanks for your Puppy time tool suite. I was just looking around for a Pomodoro timer for study/work goals, and while there are lots available I was wondering whether pClock (or pTimer) could be expanded a little to include such a function? More about Pomodoro. Something like a (modifiable) sequence of alarms say at 25, 30, 55, 60, 85 minutes... would a scripting solution be easier to incorporate perhaps? Best wishes.

My timer ptmtimer is very crude but it keeps a log of timer text boxes.
This might be of use to a student.

Thanks don570 - am testing your ptmtimer 2.5 out now on a dpup 7.5 setup, and will give you feedback on your thread. I see now I was looking like a serial pest on some of zigberts threads, asking for "enhancements"! Cheers

Nice tool! There is so much in Puppy, even after using it all these years, it still pleasantly surprises me. i need to check out apps one at a time until I've gone throuught the entire menu....
So, pClock runs a countdown, then executes a command...but immediately starts counting down again. Hmm.....shouldn't there be an option to execute the command and automatically pause or stop pClock from re-counting down and again issuing the command? Or am i missing something? (i tried "man pclock" to learn more but was whisked away to a dead link....)
Thanks!

clock face
It is possible to use pClock without the menus and additional functions. I just want the visible functioning analog clock.
perhaps I can alter the configuration settings to enable this behavior?

Do you just want a digital clock on the desktop? (That is available with the pwidgets package.) Or something else?

Funny you ask this question.
I made a script to show a giant clock on the desktop.
I took some of the code out of pclock.
I wrote a script to make the desktop picture of fatdog arm.
Available here.

If you want me to explain how I wrote the script I can do that.
