  • The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is a 2011 Swedish-American psychological thriller film based on the novel of the same name by Stieg Larsson.
This film adaptation was directed by David Fincher and written by Steven Zaillian.
Starring Daniel Craig as journalist Mikael Blomkvist and Rooney Mara as Lisbeth Salander, it tells the story of Blomkvist's investigation to find out what happened to a woman from a wealthy family who disappeared 40 years prior. He recruits the help of Salander, a computer hacker.

I read the book, overrated in my opinion. Best movie I've watched recently, is No Country For Old Men. Violent so not for the faint-hearted but excellent. Watched Airport last night, very good, a trip down memory lane.

Thanks ally ...and Happy New Year.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

The English version was rubbish compared to the original.

Unfortunately Michael Nyqvist who played Mikael Blomkvist
died last year.

Daniel Craig just wasn't in the same league.

And Noomi Rapace who played Lisbeth Salander was simply outstanding.

I saw all 3 films...and all were good.

Chris.

Well, I've changed my mind about the movie download site as mentioned in the OP. Fou Movies has proven itself to be a 'dead duck'.

The first night I was using it, I got several good-quality, English-language downloads with no problems. Every time after that, no matter what I chose, all I got was so-so versions in badly-dubbed Hindi and Urdu!

So I've given up on that one.....

I've never previously been much of one for 'torrenting', but I've found a very popular and (apparently) quite heavily-used torrent site; https://yifymovies.to/. And this one really is the proverbial 'gold-mine'. This evening, I've d'l-ed a dozen good quality movies in less than the time it was taking me to download one from FouMovies. Including at least two which I've been searching all over the place for.....

And in the process have discovered just how good Transmission, which seems to be included in every Puppy by default, really is. This has to be the first time I can recall that my download speed has approached anything like its normal maximum of around 9-10 Mb/s. I have to admit to being highly impressed..!

I've also knocked together a wee Zenity dialogue box to let me know when selected torrent downloads have finished.....and to remind me to be generous and leave things running for a while so that others can share also! (Zenity's always installed in my Pups, 'cos I need it for Photoshop CS2 to function correctly under WINE...)

Yifymovies has Mike's 'seal of approval'.....and from what I can see of it, is well-regarded by a lot of other people, too.

I know this section of the forum is 'hidden' from the public but I'm not sure the official puppy forum is the place to discuss illegal downloads?
I'm pretty surprised to see this here tbh.

Good grief, man; have you never, ever done anything the teensiest bit 'questionable' in your entire life?

For sure , I probably shouldn't discuss it here.....but that kinda pre-supposes that every single web-page served up by every single server wherever on the planet is under constant, continuous supervision by somebody, somewhere.

A set of circumstances that I, for one, would find almost impossible to substantiate. Anyway, I certainly don't advocate full-scale 'torrenting'.....and most of the films in question are, at least for me, pretty old ones; 35+ yrs old if they're a day.

And I rather doubt the occasional post in your average user forum referencing said activity is going to set off warning bells..... But; the point is taken.

No offense meant, for what it's worth my personal go-to for older stuff is http://www.veehd.com
Not all the links work and the search can be a bit wonky (but you can Google search it). You can download most things without signing up.

Nah, no worries, old son. I gave up taking offense at stuff a long while ago!

I'm just getting a bit fed-up with the 'lack' of what I term 'watchable' content on Netflix these days. Under such circumstances, my usual recourse is to re-watch some of the 'classic' films of my youth; I don't feel the need to constantly watch new stuff, unlike some.

The film-store cupboard is, however, a wee bit bare. It needed re-stocking, that's all. And I fancied giving Transmission a try, so..... :)

You could try unblocked (currently unblocked.lol) which keeps an updated list of valid torrent and streaming sites
I tend to just find a streaming site and use chromes developer tools to capture the movie link and download it

Many entities that supply a network connection do not care for torrenting. But, if you can find a fast, unblocked connection in the form of a LAN that you can access anonymously and get lost in the noise of so many others using the LAN, then it's open season. I would tell you how I do this, but that would spoil it.

My client of choice is Tixati.

Keep seeding the torrents.

Mm. I have heard about this method; I've come across several blogs mentioning this in recent months, and I think there's been discussion about this here on the Forums, too. One of these months ( ) I'll get off my backside and actually get around to trying this out.

Thanks for the reminder!

I got fed up when I couldn't find I Ishtar on a U.S. DVD. Eventually it came available on Blu-Ray and forced me to buy a cheap Blu-Ray player.

Anybody see Mayhem (2017), Passengers (2016), Arrival (2016)? I've never seen Arrival. Many viewers think it's boring.

I had a quick view of Arrival, looked boring to me, a lot of these type of movies are, then I'm bored with most movies these day's, they pump them out in the hundreds, I'm more a psychological thriller fan.

Hiya, Geoff.

You sound like you're a Hitchcock fan, or that type of thing. Would I be far off the mark there?
