Hi Tazoc,

Thanks for the reply! Whoa, you mean you didn't compile the apps LHP comes with like K3B and all the KDE apps? I thought you compiled the because they seem stable.

I'll give Kdenlive ago and report back how it works out. Thanks!

Wow, that's incredibly cool Tazoc, it worked, but not through Gslapt. I found the txz separately and made it into a pet with Big_Bass's very useful dragNdrop script. Seems to work but I haven't tested it thoroughly yet.

Man I'm pleased! I've always wanted Kdenlive, and now I got it! Yeah ha! Thanks for the tip Tazoc!

Hmm, seems Kdenlive continues to elude me, exciting with a fault:

Speed?

This concept of running in ram is new to me. Running 500mb of Ram will a distro this size still run in ram?

Thanks

Battleshooter, have you tried HasslefreeRoxapps Kdenlive.

More info of those programs: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 017#371017

Downloadlink for kdenlive hasslefree: http://dotpups.de/puppy4/dotpups/PupGee ... eeRoxapps/

If you spesifically need video editing and multimedia purpose, there is also ProducerPup for that purpose: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 017#371017

Hey Pemasu,

Yup I know about PupGeek's work, good stuff, but it think PupGeek's having problems with running Kdenlive on 4.3.1, this LHP is based on 4.3.1. http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 091#375091

I didn't know about ProducerPup though so thanks for the heads up. I'll probably stick with LHP for now though...

Hi Frank,
Good question! Lighthouse Base will load entirely into RAM at boot-up if it will fit. Its main file, 'spup-443.sfs' is currently 204M, so it would easily fit on a machine with 512M RAM. This means the boot process will take longer, especially if booting off CD or flash media. But that trade-off allows the OS and your apps to launch more quickly. If you opt to copy the main file (and add-on files, if any) off the CD to disk when prompted at shutdown the next boot will be faster.

The add-ons, such as Mariner, KDE, etc. are not part of the main file so they would be accessed off the same media that has the session file, typically named 'spupsave.2fs'. However even the Mariner ISO uses the same 204M main file as the Base ISO, so with a frugal install that part of LHP will still run in RAM.

If you choose a full install instead of the recommended frugal, boot-up is faster but each application (or the necessary part thereof) is loaded from disk into memory when the application is first launched. I should qualify that statement by saying I'm not as familiar with the boot process of a full install as I much prefer, and usually use the frugal configuration.

Hope that helps,
-TazOC

Hello fellow Columbia basinite, very impressive work with LHP lately. So no chance I can test the plasma netbook interface with LHP KDE?
I've been attempting the download of
2009-12-28 5-LHP-Mar-4d_443.sfs and it fails each time. I don't think its my network as the other sfs files I tried just downloaded fine within the same time frame. EDIT - Nevermind, it succeeded on my 3rd try (man, I'm a whiner :D )
I thought if I had Mariner, KDE 4.3, and Compiz running maybe the plasma netbook is included as a preview within the main KDE-desktop & just switch sessions.
Thanks!

Hi omskates,
It good to see a Puppian local to me. Thank you for the kind words. I wasn't familiar with the upcoming KDE 4.4 plasma-netbook interface but I found a screenshot. I suppose if I had a netbook I would be eager to try it out, too.

It might be a good candidate for an SFS add-on if it can be teased apart from KDE 4.4. I'm thinking if 4.4 is much larger than 4.3.3 then the Mariner ISO may not fit on a CD...
Take care,
TazOC

Yippee! Thought I'd let ya'll know I got Kdenlive working- Whoppeee! I ended up compiling it from source, but it worked out. The only thing I missed was "recordmydesktop" which is used for screen capture, because I don't really need it. I'm right now working on petting the files, so if anyone's interested, give a yell :)

Thanks Tazoc for making LHP!

Thanks for sharing the beautiful wallpaper pemasu!

Battleshooter's Kdenlive is mirrored at http://www.lhpup.org/download443.htm#multimedia. I renamed it Kdenlive-0.7.7a.sfs but don't assume it's an alpha--it looks release quality to me.

May Kdenlive be added to any 4.31 install or is it best integrated with LHP?

I am already using the awesome OxygenOffice and love it!

It's probably best with LHP as the Kdenlive SFS doesn't come with the KDE4 libs and I don't know any other way KDE4 is available to Puppy right now. Besides, why wouldn't anyone want to use LHP? It's just 4.3.1 with a touch of class :)

Thanks!

Am I correct wine is per-installed on this distro?
I installed wine on a standard 4,31 distro and installed esword 9.5 which works flawlessly in Ubuntu but for some reason it does not seem to have installed to c:\program files in wine on puppy. There is an esword.exe in /root/ .wine but it does nothing. I looked at Lighthouse the other day and am considering switching into it but I want to solve the issue of e-sword and IE as well before I do.
I used Wine 1.0 pet
Any ideas?
