Luci219. So far everything has worked allright. Downloaded some pets from lupu repo and they seems to work ok.

Tonight I tried to play music cd`s. I noticed that for my laptop pcd and pmusic just hangs with play cd and there is a lot of noise in cd tray. Gnome-mplayer plays but stops all the time and then plays for a while. Lxmusic does not have option to play straight at all.

But Aqualung works fine. I tested above with 3 different music cd`s.

Same situation in Lupu 510 and Luci218. In Fluppy some player worked fine.

Looks like I have difficult hardware.

Midori works good enough as first emergency browser. In Murga-Linux I had to reload the pages recurrently because the pages hungs, couldnt scroll down and I had to reload to get scrolling or page down to work again.
Not tried to install printer. Too lazy tonight.

Luci218 Abiword wireless HP1020 printing didnt work. Print test page worked although wirelessly.

Audacious works well to play CD's for me.
Might be an idea to remove midori from the internet menu if you do not want it to be used as a full browser.
Yes. Good idea I think.

The smbc protocol for Windows shared printers is now working correctly.

Sylpheed now starts with a /root/Mail folder and no /root/.sylpheed folder. This configuration appears to work, but it would be safer to start with neither.

Using Midori as the CUPS web interface works much better.

Re: Success on ancient Thinkpad 600 but Woof issues SOLVED

Thanks
Peter
I have found that by loading the version of pcmciautils from the ubuntu repository - http://packages.ubuntu.com/lucid/pcmciautils - onto Puppy 5.1.1 and then calling pcmcia-socket-startup in a Startup script then the pcmcia socket starts to work and detects the Netgear card and a wifi connection can be established.

[edit]You also need to blacklist orinoco_cs so that the hostap_cs driver is used for the Netgear MA410.[/edit]

Cheers
Peter

Hi playdayz,

The new green Partview etc. icon on the right yields more information (in hover mode) than the old Free space icon on the left..

Personally, I would discard the old icon. It also seems to me that the Clipboard icon is so useful that it might be good to have it pre-installed on the task bar. Further, even though I use the widgets clock I still like to have a clock on the task bar.

My regards

PS It may be that the clock is still on the task bar, but my screen resolution is incorrect.

Added:

Numlockx might be a useful Quick[et addition?

Sylpheed default settings

Yes i agree.
The mail box is safer on /mnt/home, shuch as /mnt/home/Mail or /mnt/home/John/Mail, as for frugal install.
The default settings for sylpheed only needs one file, '/root/.sylpheed-2.0/.sylpheedrc', which specify puppy's /usr/local/default*.
The default settings on main SFS is usefull even the sylpheed be an additional package.

Another thing: Adobe Flash Player can also be additional from the Quick Pet.

I can confirm this

Have done clean full installs (800mhz and 3200mhz) to go with the frugals and it is looking very good.

just a couple of little things
Cat dudes extra quick pet icons need reinstalling
No matter what I set my time zone as it still takes 1 hour off what the time should be, correct time always flashes up and then puppy takes 1 hour off.

Midori is very good for the size of it (have been trying it out as a main browser) and just the occasional crash when the hardware is pushed to the limit Well done Technosaurus

Hope this helps

But that is what it has always been????
Puppy, Woof, Woof page you get at top of desktop on first boot-
Can see page but nothing to click on will work.
There is nothing to click in that page is there????
Error - http://localhost//localhost:631
The page 'http://localhost//localhost:631' couldn't be loaded.

When did you get that error please. I started Cups from System -> System Status -> Cups and from Setup -> Cups printing wizard and both time the cups screen came up properly.
Using Midori to access help page.
Complete list of packages list will not work.
Get this error message.
Bigpup, it seems like something is wrong. Are you using luci-219, just posted about 3 hours ago? If so, did you add anything to the basic iso? Could you check the md5sum please? Ah, did you upgrade a lucisave file from 218 or previous by any chance? If so, could you boot pfix=ram and do the same tests? Thank you.

Nope.

Other than what I addressed in earlier posts, everything seems good. AFAIK, that is the same Midori build Technosaurus was using in 4.4 and it's always had the problem of the disappearing scrollbar.

it keeps getting better and better
thanks to all who have spent countless hours working on this great distro

looking forward to an even better product in the weeks ahead

playdayz
since a choice is given for major internet browsers, would it be possible to provide user a choice betweenr midori or puppy browser - user's choice?

thanks again for all the hard work on this

I know this has always bothered me. Open office calls their "excel" program "calc". but why does puppy not make it more generic? how about spreadsheet, worksheet, charts, data, analysis, etc...

something other than 'calc'ulator which by the way has the icon of a calculator

That was what I was thinking too. The icon looks like a calculator and says calc so I expected a calculator.

Never mind!
Been so long since I looked at it. The way I was reading it made me think there where things to click on.

More Midori.................

I was surfing around earlier in 4.4 when I remembered that Technosaurus had upgraded Midori to 2.4 and solved the missing scrollbars problem.Might be worth checking into for Luci/Lucid Puppy.
