ttuuxxx,

Can you post instructions on how to remove the shortcut arrow from the desktop's Install icon? This is only a small visual annoyance, but one which I would be willing to fix for myself with proper written guidance.

Again, thanks for all your hard work!

HI Roy
Better yet here's a fix for, just install the pet and it will have the right icon, I'll added it to my list for the next update:)

set icon

Right-click on that and choose File - Set Icon. Then navigate to /usr/share/midi-icons and drag your preferred icon to the Set Icon window. (This is the manual method. :) )

Raffy he didn't want to set the icon, he wanted to remove the system link arrow from it, Thats a puppypin setting, or he can rightclick on the icon, click 'Edit Item' change the topline from
/usr/sbin/dotpup
to
/usr/sbin/petget
then click 'ok'

I tried that geexbox but when I pressed cd on the menu the screen went blank and I couldnt get out of it. I looked through the menu and coudlnt see how to get online for stream downloads at dialup speeds. Thanks anyway.
I still have problems with sound buffers on/off whilst downloading/listening to mp3 saved chat shows. Oh and v2 DOES remember the sound Setup I cant think why it didnt seem to play before.

Thanks for fixing this up Ttuxxx :-)

Erm....how would I put the "bling" back in?

Pwidgets etc

Sorry...I want the best of both worlds...my "linux newbs" like it, I wont force it on anyone else ;-)

P.S. This would make a great base for a puppy 4.2.1 if this were to happen, thank you for fixing the bugs

ttuuxxx - I found another bug.

The JWM configuration reports an error when I try to do something with the Tray Management (e.g. Number of Virtual Desktop).

==========

By the way, can you tell me how to remove the Ptray out from the original puppy? I used petbegone to remove it but it comes back on a remastered CD.

bug?

I tried starting Pwget and it didn't work. Could be a bad download but not likely. Perhaps someone else could check too. Cheers.

Hi you would be better to ask Zigbert, I'm not supporting Pwidgets :) or any bling other than WM,icons, backgrounds :)

I`m running your v2 version on a full hard drive install and think it`s really great, I like the rc3 icons.
I have found however just like many other recent pups that when I configure Alsa sound it finds my via82.xxx chips and loads up. However as it displays what it is doing, a list of missing sound modules comes up as it swiches to the next input screen. Gxine still works but it does NOT remember the setting and I have to configure it again every time I switch on.
Also I have noticed that when I play some mp3s from on line I have to wait for buffer refills 4 seconds soundplay and 4 seconds off - it really is a pain. I am on dialup but I`m sure I could hear continuos sounds before using some other player in the far past -maybe at a lesser quality. I like to listen to net radio broadcasts or their saved talk shows for later playback. One of them is www.kevinsmithshow.com a talkshow on paranormal ufo`s etc. I get the buffer problem when clicking on Latest show, top of left menu.
Is ther another player that can handle this? I noticed something about Javascript.

Thanks for all your time and effort.

I'm just wondering if this is a direct link to your show?

http://kevinsmithshow.com/program/today.swf
try opening that with gxine
or you can actually download it using puppy multithread downloader

ttuuxxx, understand you not supporting bling, but of course you know how to put it back

Just go to the first post in the Pwidgets thread... enough instructions there :)

How I removed Ptray is that I downloaded from the software section and renamed it to tar.gz then extracted it and deleted the files, then I read the install method posted on the thread and deleted that :)

Its ok Ttuxxxx, dont blindfold yourself on our account, someone has already produced a bugfixed 4.2 with the usability features people need (bling?). It has SMP (dual core processor) support also.

All thats needed is to regress the still buggy abiword back to how it was before you upgraded it (I can hear the cursing around the world) and it will make a top base for the next CE or even official version.

yes I know of it, its using some of my fixes which is cool, But don't forget this version is built for no bling, 72% of almost 100 voted against bling. Which that version does not cater for.

I don't think you can seriously recommend that smp version since it has no kernel source available. You can't compile nvidia drivers, vmware, or anything else kernel related.

I this version is pretty nice. no bling, and the choice to bring it back. also with the patches. Only a big shame you removed the JQ8flat-lite icons. ;)

those are my favourites.

But a big thanks for your work ttuxxx. Because I prefer this nobling version, and i'm using it.

I'm trying to get the JQ8flat-lite icons back. And i tried with a pet, but it wasn't applied 100% in the menu for example. Half of it was the JQ8flat-lite icons, and the rest the default icons. But perhaps i did something wrong or used the wrong JQ8flat-lite pet.

Hi ttuuxx,
Have you tried your vlc-0.8.6h-engv5.pet in Puppies 4.2-v2?
I reported my problem in the vlc post
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... &start=165

I would be very greatfull if you could sort out the problem as I really prefer vlc for my installs and have now got your Puppies 4.2-v2 installed and working well.

thanks
