So very nice SteveS. Would it be possible to make a pet that could be placed in the Puppy Package Manager that could add pupflux capability to standard Lucid 5.1.1? Or 80% of the capability Thanks.

Dejan's fluxbox has it all and would make a great addition. I did a great deal of tweaking on the menu, but that was more for my own benefit; his initial menu looks great.

I tried Pfluxlite and I liked it's look.

Oddly I found Geany slow to launch.

Here are some suggestions.
Retrovol should be in the menu rather than alsamixer.
Also you need a version of mhwaveedit that will launch
Retrovol by clicking on icon.

set_hwclock should be in the menu as well to be consistent with Lucid Puppy.
Many users won't know how to set the clock if they are booting
on a linux machine rather than a windows machine.

Try it out. It uses mplayer to play several audio and video formats.

Thanks, Don, I'll check it out...never used retrovol, so I'll have to look into it...I just picked the mtpaint that was recomended in the woof build and i am trying to keep the size down on pfluxlite...I like the Rox filer ideas, though...didn't notice any slowness on geany but will look into it...like I said, I'll check it out; thanks!...

During the woof process, if you have devx running, it gives you the option to run "strip", which I did, although this was my first time to have a completed process with woof, so have no idea how stripped it was...

It's back, Pupflux, and I'm digging it. From the desktop right now.

However one little thing I noticed on playing an audio cd with Gnome-MPlayer, about three times a minute sound output ceased for round a second. Optical drive is good (nothing in dmesg about i/o errors). What I have seen of mplayer messages appears normal so far as I can tell. Ran it in a terminal with CD inserted and saw some output as disc was recognised and began to play.. Also just stuck in CD and clicked on it which opened Gnome-MPlayer. What can it mean? I did find myself wondering whether it is periodically trying to get artwork, track details, etc from the net - no network connection at that stage. MP3 playback from USB stick no problem.

Machine is a ThinkPad R51. Live session.

Hmmm...no specific feedback from me regarding that one...I don't know if mplayer looks for data on the web. I think of mplayer as a universal media player and not as much of a music player...for that i might pick something like pmusic, which I know Pfluxlite has (I'm using that right now) but can't swear to Pupflux...type pmusic in the terminal and see how it plays for you music...

Look in Edit > Preferences > Mplayer at the cache settings.

Maybe the cache is too large and Mplayer has to pause to fill it.

When I played Audio CD's (that I had burnt) with pmusic 1.3.1
I noticed that the motor of my CD drive was working too hard for the first minute of
the song and for each song of the CD. Commercially burnt CD's didn't have this
problem. I reported this problem to the developer Zigbert

He basically pinned the problem on ffmpeg and said that there was nothing
he could do.

By the way the program pCD doesn't have this problem so you should always
use that for playing CD's if it's available.

The command at the terminal to set the clock type is 'set_hwclock_type'

This is why all recent puppy iso's have setting the
clock type in the menu so it's easy to set.

Found that pmusic plays audio cds without this problem, so sweet as.

Had a look at the mplayer cache mentioned, but altering values had no effect. I think this is intended for streaming audio rather than audio cds.

I installed an old version of pCD on pfluxlite and it worked
perfectly. I highly recommend it over pmusic if you just want to
play CD

I tried to install countrywizard by shinobar but it gave errors at
the terminal.

So to get the right time what I do is set the right timezone (-4 for me)
then at the terminal I type 'set_hwclock_type'

The file /etc/clock is changed by this command I guess??

All I have to say is PfluxLite is great! I have been looking for a very lite version of Lucid 5.1.1 and it was perfect.

My only issue is the installer bombs. I was able to install Puppy 5.1.1 on the same machine with no problems which has me puzzled. It goes through the install all the way through and even installs grub. But when I go to boot the new install, the only thing there is grub. weird

Really weird 'cause that should be exactly the same as Puppy...you can of course manually copy the cd to a folder then point grub to it...that's what I do everytime I do a frugal anyway...I can walk you through that if you want...

Seems that adding items to menu is pretty straightforward but I can't figure out how to add the correct commands to display pwidgets' add and remove widgets window.

Sorry, that one I don't know, so I'll default to either dejan or 01micko on that one...I haven't run widgets on fluxbox...
