Xfce + Thunar
A new version of Xfce is relaesed: it includes a brand new file manager: Thunar. Would that make a sense to compare:
*the size and RAM/CPU requirements of RoxFiler + JWM
*the size and RAM/CPU requirements of reduced version of xfce including Thunar.

hmm
When I add applets to the panel after reboot they do not appear. Why does it not save my changes ?
I did manually add the entries to the /usr/etc/xdg/xfce4/panel/contents.xml
And this seems to work, but should'nt the file update itself ?

Heaven is on the way, until then let's get the truth out!

Because it's mean. I added many things then ran into that and had to re-add and re-configure them all. What you need to do is right-click the grabby-thing with dots on the left or right, then select "exit". Then when you come back it should have it saved. If not, you might need to fiddle around with the session section of the configuration. Also, the "restart" option might work too, I don't know.

They aren't compatible as far as I know. XFCE has its own plugins already, though.

That's the site with the "goodies" for XFCE, including but not limited to plugins.
I don't know anything about writing them, but they have information availible so it may be possible to port the JWM ones over to XFCE.

xfce uses a contents.xml.active file for your changes during a session and saves it when you finish the session- but only if you finish it properly (with the "quit" option, which in puppy [du to the lack of sudo] only allows to exit to prompt).
I have posted in the past special shutdown and reboot scripts to use with xfce to avoid that problem.
My xfce dotpup contains such scripts and all the menu entries refer to them.

Have you tried exiting xfce and saving the session? It usually will save the resolution along with the other settings.NoobieDoobieDo wrote:Everytime XFCE loads the resolution is 320x200 or something really small like that and I have to use xrandshell to change the resolution (which is really hard).
Even though I tell it to save the settings it never does, this in turn makes XFCE more or less unusable for me.
