To be honest im not to sure about the drag and drop separate font preview option - some of my fonts do not display at all / and others incorrectly - i also have no desktop icons other than drives to drag there.

Code: Select all

yad --help-form
gives some hints without explanations
:TYPE
H hidden
RO read only
NUM numeric
CHK check
CB combobox
CBE combobox edit
FL file
...
CLR colour

It is OK without the drag'ndrop.
Best solution would be to ask the developer of yad adding TYPE :FNT (font/style/size) to form.

display font preview not at all
Are you sure a size was being selected ?

Hi stu90,

Installed version 0.5, however, upon opening it filled the screen so I haven't tested it. See image below.

Is --:Make sure to fill in ALL fields:-- really needed?
I have tested all numeric fields = zero and nothing nasty happened.

Jim1911,
mhhh...
With me v0.5 is OK. :)
You could delete your .Xdefaults and try again.

Code: Select all

rm /root/.Xdefaults

Hi Jim1911,
Not sure what is going on there, maybe related to some font name?

If you could try the one attached to this post see if it does the same.

uncompress > make sure script is executable > move to /root/my-applications/bin

thanks.

Hi L18L ,
nice one, Yad developer seems to be fairly active so fingers crossed. :)

No there is probably no need for that text anymore as all the fields inputs have already an entry in them.

Hi stu90,

Tried your test 0.5, no change in Snow Puppy which is based on Lucid 525. I switched over to Lucid and it does size properly, however it doesn't work. See image 12 which is the settings that I use, and image 13 which is the results of the settings.

Possibly operator error or I just don't really know what to expect.

Version 0.4 appears to be working properly. See image 15.

Thanks,
Jim

Hi stu90,

0.5a attached
Sure you will tidy it, for now it is just working (size included in font)

(Have some obligations in real life now)

My regards

Edited:
Do not use it, see next post

Sorry for not having tested thoroughly enough version .5a

The sad truth is:

Code: Select all

yad --font
and

Code: Select all

yad --form --fiel="foo":fn "font style size"
seem to be not compatible with

Code: Select all

fc-list
examples:
yad: Nimbus Sans L Italic Condensed
fc-list: Nimbus Sans L:style=Condensed Italic

yad: Nimbus Roman No9 L
fc-list: Nimbus Roman No9 L:style=Regular

I have tried to work around these different notations but there is one thing why I am giving up now:

yad is giving more choices than fc-list
example for "Fixed":
Regular, Italic, SemiCondensed, Bold and Bold Italic

Code: Select all

# fc-list | grep Fixed
Fixed:style=Bold
Fixed:style=SemiCondensed
Fixed:style=Regular
#
Using yad --font is useless for setting fonts in urxvt.

Hi DaveS - Urxvtset uses Yad for the GUI

You can find the Yad download on this link:

cheers.

Hi DaveS,
You are the second person who has reported this problem - im not sure what is causing it to spaz out like this, have you installed any additional fonts?

Could you try swapping the urxvtset script in /root/my-applications/bin/
for the one on this link to see if it makes any difference:
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 782#535782
unpack and make sure script is executable.

thanks.

DaveS,

What version of Yad did you use?
I used Yad- 0.11.0.pet from the first post of this topic.
Maybe causing your problem using different Yad download?
