No, we didn't cutdown the icu icu; but Fatdog seamonkey build does not use the system-icu anyway (it uses seamonkey's own internal icu library). Fatdog basesfs does not include libicu.It is my cutdown icu data file. I guess that you are doing the same thing?
It has to be "less cut down". I was fiddling with that this morning, got a icu data file of about 12MB that works with SM -- bit big, but much smaller than the full 21MB.
Um, don't understand. Chatzilla is an example of a built-in extension, or add-on. It doesn't in Fatdog's seamonkey and that's because we did it that way. You won't also find Lightning in the add-on window, although it is included too. Yes, that's because the official binary put the extensions in "distribution/extensions" and "extensions" (more below). Fatdog's one doesn't.When I downloaded the official x86_64 binary tarball, I got entries in Extensions tab, without adding any extra add-ons.
I haven't seen your mozconfig. By default SM will use its internal libicu. Only if you specify --with-system-icu it will link to the external (ie, system's) libicu.Ditto, after fixing icu, my compile of SM now shows Chatzilla etc.
They actually have 3 places. One is "distribution/extensions", the other one is "extensions" (extensions put in these directories will both be visible in add-on manager) and the hidden one is "distribution/bundles".I am away from home right now, using a Windows 7 machine, running IE.
But, I do recall SM has two places inside /usr/lib/seamonkey where extensions can reside -- presume that one of them is what you refer to as hidden.
Both myself and kirk got segfaults when we tried to run SM *for the very first time* and it can't get on to the network to verify that the extensions "are compatible with this version of SM" - which is totally ridiculous and rubbish because those extensions were built at the same time with the SM itself ...Note, I haven't had any problem with SM crashing if there is no network connection.
The only workaround we found, short of not including any extensions at all, was to put them in "distribution/bundles". If you don't have this problem, well, I'd really be interested to see your mozconfig

However, after first run of SM, /root/.mozilla/.../prefs.js has this:

Looks like I need to modify the script a bit, chop off that ".1"
I think, not sure, but this might also bypass the extensions check.

Especially annoying when I mean to middle-click on a link to open a new tab and miss, whenceupon the default action is to paste selection/clipboard to the address bar and freeze up >:|
