Oh, I saw Aarf's post on bkhome about xdelta_gui + spaces in path:
Posted on 4 Aug 2013, 23:47 by aarf
Space delta
Also affect xdelta clicking the delta wont auto fill the boxes
Easy fix, /usr/sbin/xdelta_gui, line 49:

Code: Select all

if [ "$1" ];then # SFR: double quotes

Oh yes, I can't wait for this, especially AMD Legacy!
Only lack of proprietary drivers withholds me from installing 5.6 on real HW for good, since CPU throttles and shuts down due to high temp with radeon driver.
Well, it's mostly the fault of my (still) clogged fan, but anyways with AMD's it runs 10-15 degrees cooler.
But still - Win7+Catalyst runs hotter than Slacko+radeon!

BTW, I can't find more broken icons (did I find them all at last?), but noticed that the previous [1] [2] are still there...
Oversight...or low priority? But seriously - it's no big deal; better if you're focused on some internal, crucial stuff.

SFR, oversight  I knew I missed something! They will make it into the final as I forgot them in the next too, just built and ready to upload, however I did find 2 more bugs (well not really bugs but shouldn't be there, so I might rebuild and upload tomorrow.)

Yeah, I think the kernels are final now. Nvidia is going to make me compile 3 drivers now  (173,304,320 or whatever they are at the time)

-

Jim1911 and oldyeller. I just built bibletime-2.9.2. Please give it a test for me please and if ok I'll put it in the main repo. I used a pristine install so there should not be too many surprises.

EDIT:
Oh yes, I can't wait for this, especially AMD Legacy!
Haha! Guess what? My new board has integrated

Code: Select all

01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc 760G [Radeon 3000]
..which I'm pretty sure falls under legacy.

Anyway, I fixed my 2 little bugs, added the 4 scripts (3 fix icons, 1 fixes spaces) and am building now, will probably upload while I'm sleeping so if you want to stalk my repo feel free. 8) . There is also a little surprise update, nothing major.. a virtual jelly bean (no not the OS  ) to whoever discovers it...

Newly created save from pfix=ram boot off 5.5.7.1 on Pentium D. Successfully created on NTFS hard drive that's got XP on. Fine across boots.

Checked PPM and the Pidgin pet in puppy-slacko14-official repo still doesn't show up on a search until PPM is updated and reloaded. Oddly, even after the list's updated, it isn't listed in the Internet category unless I select either "Any type" or "Any non-GUI type" from the dropdown menu in 'package types'. It will still show up on a search, however.

I tried to use getnvidia on 304.88 for k3.10.5 and got errors - this link seems to explain:
https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topi ... el-3-10-0/ and leads to an unofficial patch....

I did a manual frugal install to an 8gb SDHC card (the 8gb version of
the one that I bought yesterday), running on an Acer desktop pc.

video-info-glx 1.5.1 Tue 6 Aug 2013 on Slacko Puppy 5.5.80 Linux 3.4.52 i686

depth of root window: 24 planes
direct rendering: Yes
server glx vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation
server glx version string: 1.4

OpenGL renderer string: GeForce 9300 GE/PCIe/SSE2/3DNOW!
OpenGL version string: 3.3.0 NVIDIA 325.15
# glxgears

I'm almost certain that there was no .spot-status file in the root
directory again because I did a search with pfind so unless I made a
typo it wasn't there or anywhere else so:
I opened geany and created .spot-status, added firefox=false
ffmpeg=false and streamripper=false, saved the file and then opened the
terminal and ran loginmanager, the .spot-status file looks like this
now:
firefox=true
streamripper=true
ffmpeg=true

There is a new proprietary Nvidia driver that just came out yesterday,
no problems installing that.
NVIDIA-Linux-x86-325.15.run

I've just begun to play but everything is working great so far.

There was no .spot-status until I ran QuickSetup first run settings
(maybe you told me that already :) ) It created the empty .spot-status
file which I edited etc. with the method in my last post.

Good news on the proprietary NVIDIA-Linux-x86-325.15.run file, it
compiled with no problems.
I installed peasy_dvd_player-1.1.pet and it's working well.

Hi mick,

I have installed bibletime 2.9.2 I am On 5.5.70 it worked after I installed icu4c from slackware 14 official; now downloading 5.5.80 to test it with.

so this maybe needed as dependency for bibletime?

It looks really good and runs nice thanks,

Bibletime-2.9.2

Pristine install of 5.5.71 and 5.5.77. Worked great on both. Nothing had to be added to make it work. I just downloaded all files using ppm and then substituted your new pet along with the other dependencies. :D

I will try 5.5.70 to see if I can duplicate oldyeller's problem.
EDIT: Cannot duplicate oldyeller's result. Pristine installation worked perfectly.
EDIT 2: Since you uploaded 5.5.80 and 5.5.81, I will test them also?

Thank you, :D

I have made some fixes to pMusic, and testing it in 5.5.81. I want to adjust the fontsizes in the graphical themes (pMusic) to fit 96 dpi, but it is hard because I can't get a proper screen resoultion. This because I need the ati-catalyst driver. Is there any place to find it, I get this funny msg when trying the video-upgrade-wizard.

Which card do you have and which version are you using (PAE or non-PAE?)
Post output from

Code: Select all

lspci -nn|grep -iE "vga"
I'll build that one as a priority.

Thanks

I am working through my apps, and by comparing to similar apps I can see what works. - So you don't need to build anything just for me. It would be nice to have the driver for the final release.

Code: Select all

# lspci -nn|grep -iE "vga"
00:01.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: ATI Technologies Inc Device [1002:9640]

Bibletime-2.9.2

#237 Post by Jim1911 »

Hi Mick,

Tested Bibletime-2.9.2 on pristine installations of 5.5.80 and 5.5.81. Both worked as they should. I have been unable to duplicate oldyeller's problem with dependencies. Directory picture below shows files downloaded by ppm. Incidentally, both distributions updated an existing save file properly also. :D

Thanks, :D

The ati proprietary driver wouldn't compile without errors on my 5581 install so I'm waiting for 01micko's pet with you :)

I've got the laptop connected to a lcd monitor with a hdmi cable, two screens are good at times.

legacy AMD/ATI for k3.10.5 is built...probably the most difficult because the ati-13.1-legacy driver was produced in January  (somewhat slower than nvidia!). I do envisage problems with legacy nvidia drivers on this kernel too. ATI does have a brand new beta for k3.10 so that should build ok.Lucky I have enough video cards eh?
