I see that there's nothing wrong with your config...it maybe a problem when Micko compiled conky...some of the conky functions maybe not correct...we'll have to dive in further....

Is your wireless connection wlan0 or is it perhaps ath0 or such.

If so just alter to suit.

Two things.

1) What do you get in terminal if you type iwconfig

Don't post all, miss the ip out

2) Do you have a file called wireless_pre in /.pwidgets/scripts

Yep, calls OK. Produces the wlan0

All should be OK, so it looks like a Conky problem.

Over to you Mick

Hmmmm...

May well be a conky problem but I used the Special Source... methinks may be more of an Ubuntu problem...

Investigating.

Hello all,

Thank you to Schism and Jim1911 for feedback. It is very important. I don't have time to test each individual widget with upup, I'm also testing and trying to develop other things, mainly in upup.

Thanks to Schism, the wireless bug seems fixed, I tested my new version on my Dino (Dino=old K6 400MHz, 256 ram, running several puppies, always live 8) ). At the moment in upup, with "pwidgets_upup-2.0.8-1" installed.

Sigmund, for your information, the first version I uploaded I recompiled Patriot's conky source against the upup libs. It came out big, but apparently did not need or even like the dependencies (libxcb.so.xxx) so I removed them from the original pwidgets_upup-2.0.8 version. The reason the original Pwidgets does not work in upup is because there are included older versions of libxcb that are trying to overwrite the newer Ubuntu versions in "/usr/lib" in Upup.
I ditched altogether libxcb. However, this turned out to be a mistake. You learn by those  ! In this version I retain the "libxcb-xlib.so.0.0.0" (and link) but ditch libxcb.xxx. Also I replaced my compile with Patriot's original compile of conky. (It's smaller and it seems to work ok... time will tell :? )

Cheers

Would it be possible to melt our 2 Pwidgets packages into one with the newer libxcb from upup?

Mick,

I have noticed no difference on upup-476 between "pwidgets_upup-2.0.8-1" and the previous upup version.

Only problem I've noticed is that cpu ram and worldtime refuse to run at the same time, regardless of the order that they are placed. EDIT: By adjusting height as suggested by Schism below, and position, both show up.

Have you posted any of the new upup applications that you are working on?

Thanks for all these nice little applications that you and the Pwidgets team are developing.

Jim

Worldtime display

#2397 Post by Schism »

Did you try editing the file height?
File>Show Widget Config file(s)
This will show you the files script. There is a height 90, which can be lessened to make room. And maybe you can lessen the other scripts around it. This may make room to see it.
This was one of the reason's I first stuck with conky itself. It takes a little getting used to and trying different settings to get what you want. But all in all I've learned to love it.
Anyway I don't use world time but it showed up fine for me. My display is 1280 x 800.

Is there anybody out there?

#2398 Post by Schism »

Silence....

Did I make someone mad? Did it work? was I right? or wrong?

O.K. I want to use "cluster's" I want to have different set-ups than the deffault. At the same time, time is limited for me here. I have a six year old.

How would I go about changing them to my liking, and will it mess anything up?

Clusters uses the /root/.pwidgets/profiles directory.

When you select 'clusters' from the menu you are given the choice of radio buttons according to the profiles. You can select multiple radio buttons to be active, this puts multiple pwidgets on screen at once.

Edit the 'pwidgets_list' in each profile directory to reflect the widgets you want on the screen for each profile.

That way you can have different pwidgets across screen.

Height:
There has always been a problem we have tried to trace or eliminate.

When you edit a widget config and save it, a blank line is added. This has the effect of increasing the height value needed to prevent overlap.
If you alter it and later edit, it will increase again.

Tip:
Change 'draw_borders' to 'yes' in configs in use to see what the actual spacing is. You can reset to 'no' afterwards.

Editing the cluster's lists don't work?

#2400 Post by Schism »

I did a simple edit of the system_left, removed Cpu and Ram and added Cpu-Ram saved it and restarted no change from the original. Is there a temp file that should be removed?
