How long after 5-5-13 might Puppy have integrated Wheezy-7/64/UEFI?

Someone suggested that it is possible to "reflash your BIOS with a custom key".

Does that sound realistic?

Does it risk bricking the laptop?

Yes... it's true!

I lost an XP box to a hacker that did exactly that 3 or 4 years ago... After much research I learned it could have also destroyed certain mother-board functions as well. The box (desktop model) still sits on a table here as a reminder why I went with Linux. I am not sure if Linux could be affected, could be harder... I just don't know? But never had it happen again since getting rid of MS and using Linux! To this day, I can't figure for the life of me why anyone who knows and uses Linux would ever ever want to keep MS on their computer with Linux!

Linux meets 99% of the need ...

Very very rarely I may have an emcomm (emergency communications) need to load an app to program a radio, and I would not have time to fuss with WINE, etc.

Other than that I would never have a need for anything from Micro$oft. (It is sad that any modern programmer cannot write platform-independent code. Or sad that they are forbidden by an employed to do so.)

I am looking forward to TIZEN so I may strip everything-google from my phone as I have from my computers.

Is there an immediate plan to release a 64-bit Puppy Wheezy or might that take a while?

My daughter is waiting for my Netbook and I am waiting to transition to the new/refurb 64-bit Laptop before I surrender the Netbook ...

I dont have means to provide 64 bit dpup wheezy. Woof2 does not support atm 64 bit builds.
About next dpup wheezy. It will come. Not sure of the day. It is spring now and a lot things to do in Finland.

I appreciate that Puppy Linux is a volunteer gift from all who share distros and support.

Is your recommendation for 64-bit either Fatdog 64 or something someone builds using SlackBones x86_64?

The garden and yard and Amateur Radio-related outside projects are tugging at me as well - though Spring started here in SE-GA, USA quite a while ago.

Spring is exceptionally late in Finland. There are still streams of snow in some places.

I would suggest FatDog. It has been developed a long time and it has been built with recent packages and with recent kernel.
The booting up system differs from woof2 based though. You will need to read the FatDog documents. There are extensive explanations available.

wanting to set an existing printer and choosing Menu/System/CUPS settings, i got an "Internal Server Error" message.

I surely have done something bad while trying to configure a wine printer.

So, to recover a workinh CUPS, open the PuppyPackage Manager, type CUPS and press «Go»;
then download cups_1.5.3-2.14 given as «blablibla...unix server», and install.
And it is done... !

First test build created of Dpup Wheezy from Debian 7.0 packages and using it now created by debian wheezy stable packages downloaded by woof2. I havent found yet any major bugs. I have adapted now latest woof2 to create Dpup Wheezy ( there is no official support yet ).

It will have Firefox with FireFtp, Adblock and Flashblock inbuild. It might use Firefox inbuild pdf reader. Epdfview in Wheezy is broken...or I compile Evince.
Libgtk-3.0 support. Basic support for gtk3 themes ( through woof scripts ), Abiword-2.92, Rox right click addons ( work under progress to update them ), support for debian multimedia repository, so that you can download the newest multimedia versions if you want instead of main repo older versions.

Previous versions users could give feedback of improvent needs. Is there need for Frisbee ( Rerwin has updated it recently and support in woof should be there ).
Today it rains, so I will use this day to update DISTRO_SPECS and I check the packages so that I try to use latest Puppy packages.

My initial build is 132 Mb, but unfortunately it will grow slightly when I update to use wheezy packages.

If gtk3 themes support does not always work, how would you rate its level of brokenness?

Basic support and brokenness has nothing to do with each other. Different families - different continentals. To have good gtk3 theme support in Puppies...first use gtk3 theme of the base distro version. Next auto width slider-width in every installed gtk3 theme and also same time installed gtk2 theme. They are always too narrow. Next...be sure that some of the gtk3 themes will give you glib warnings in console...especially if you used gtk3 theme from other distro. I would say that gtk3 theming support is really difficult and it takes a lot time to hunt good ones, fix them and so on.....

Next...there is no gui gtk3 theme selector. Only chtheme gtk gui selector which changes same time gtk2 and gtk3 theme of the chosen theme....and shows the selected gtk2 theme outlook.

Most of the brokenness comes from the difficulty to find good gtk3 theme and then manually fix the slider-width.

If you install for example murrine themes from debian wheezy repo, you get about 20 themes which you can switch with chtheme gui selector. But....for me the slider width with gtk3 themes is too narrow.

Not sure how should I rate it. I dont usually rate anything....also not this time.

Please, take your time, no need to be in a rush.
If you can make it a bit faster than the Debian team, that's OK .
We have waited so long and can afford to be patient a little bit more.

OscarTalks. No. There has been some space liberation needs in smokey01. I dont dare to create repo there atm. I am grateful to Smokey01 that I have had possibility to use his site, and I try not to pollute it.
The hosting company does not quite understand that there is repositories of same packages to different builds. That takes a lot space and I understand the situation.

I am going anyway to rely official debian wheezy packages. I try to test the wheezy apps and if they need hacks and fixes...I try to include them. So far Gimp, Vlc-2.0.6, inkscape has worked straight. Of course launching in console is recommended. Missing libraries or errors can be found that way.
Compiling yourself apps again and again losts the excitement at least when you have done the same compilation to other build fifth time same year.

I will concentrate to provide different woof2 builds of debian, raring, precise and there just is not time to update own repos for them.

If someone is willing to do that.....I will surely include that repo to the build.

A quick method to check for compatibility to old graphic libraries is to run
my compiled mtpaint 3.44.13 since it was compiled on puppy 4.31.
