BionicPup32 (UPupBB) (27 June 2020)
Hi.
Booted into upupbb 18.05.
Screenshot: wallpaper changed by N.E.M.E.S.I.S. at boot
I had to install (luckily I could download from my own version of tahr):
libpipeline1_1.5.0-1_i386.deb
usb-modeswitch_2.5.2+repack0-2ubuntu1_i386.deb
usb-modeswitch-data_20170806-2_all.deb
to be able to connect to the web via my gprs usb modem.
Luckily rerwins's PGPRS Connect package was installed by default.
Though, doesn't make sense to have it installed without the usb-modeswitch components - not meant to be offended.
I'd noticed this issue also in Xenial Pups, and Artful Pup. So, couldn't we just return to install usb-modeswitch plus rerwins's PGPRS Connect package by default at built (WoofCE?) ?
What's somehow funny is that the screen size is already set to 2560x1024 (both monitors acting as one screen), though both monitors are handled as two different desktops. So the desktop is switching when moving a window to another monitor. How can I change this?

qt-4.8.7_bionic-18.05
I put together this "qt-4.8.7_bionic-18.05.sfs" for UPup bionic_beaver (upupbb) 18.05.
If anyone is interested, look here:

Errrrr - basic libgtk-3 has been in the build for some time:backi wrote:So i asked PeeBee ........Should`nt libgtk-3 better be installed by default ....?

Where are you getting Thunderbird from? If PPM then it pulls in all sorts of un-needed dependencies such as Wayland.....if it can't find libgtk-3 then this is likely to be a path problem....
I suggest to use the Slackware Current build:
http://ftp.slackware.com/pub/slackware/ ... i586-2.txz
which runs without any additional dependencies.

Re: save file problems
I'm not aware of any differences between 18.04 and 18.05 in this respect.tlchost wrote:Running 18.05 on a dell laptop....booting form DVD with ext2 save file located on HD.

18.04 creates and recognizes save file with no problems.
I never boot off DVD so have difficulty testing this report.....
All I can suggest is to add a psavedir= to the boot params (I think you type F2 during boot to do this....but someone will no doubt correct)
If anyone who does boot from DVD can test that would be appreciated.

Searching the main .sfs doesn't find libpipeline. Also the usb-modeswitch installed is different to the one I downloaded and installed. Bionic recognizes my gprs usb modem only after installing the packages I mentioned. So, there's something wrong with the default installed packages, as those installed by default is 3 files (two of them are scripts). Those I downloaded and installed is 2 files (binary, its icon looks like a library).peebee wrote:Already in the build:ITSMERSH wrote:I had to install (luckily I could download from my own version of tahr):

Who am I to argue...especially since another person experienced the same problem and cured it the same way. Perhaps it works in 18.05...but with the save file issue that''s a problem.
Other than that, the distro seems nice.

Fresh boot of 18.05 .iso with no save
Didn't try Thunderbird, but official builds of Seamonkey 2.49.3 and Firefox-ESR 52.7.4 both ran fine. This would suggest that the included libgtk-3 is OK since both of these packages do require it.
Looking in /usr/share/applications there are a few icon paths that need tidying including pupX which has no menu icon at all. Maybe use /usr/share/pixmaps/puppy/screen_resolution.svg for pupX. Transmission is not showing the usual one.
CUPS-PDF did not want to print the test page for some reason ("Invalid Filename"), but it did print a browser page when I tried that.

Hi.
Since libpipeline is placed into the devx, I made again a test on the use of my gprs usb modem. Just installed the libpipeline1_1.5.0-1_i386.deb and plugged in the gprs usb modem. No success!
The gprs usb modem still appears as sr1 and is not detected by rerwin's pgprs connect program. After installing the packages
usb-modeswitch_2.5.2+repack0-2ubuntu1_i386.deb
usb-modeswitch-data_20170806-2_all.deb
everything went fine. Gprs usb modem detected and immediately online after entering the APN and choosing a phone number from the defaults.
