Dpup has the same kernel and modules as 4.3.1 so rerwin our resident puppy modem expert tells us that this pet below will enable the E1550

http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... h&id=23680

Could you let me know how you go

Yes, I am working on that, but it is a while away...if I worked on it full time I may get it done in a couple of days...but I don't have the time to devote to it completely at the moment...something like 50Mb of text file databases to rebuild ...not quick...and it cannot be completed correctly until Dpup structure is finalized...but I will get it done...

Cheers

test on aspire 5100 laptop
1 uplaod dpup-482beta5-2.6.30.5.iso
extract dpup-482.sfs on reiserfs partition table
extract initrd.gz vmlinuz and create syslinux.cfg( with only this line: default vmlinuz initrd=initrd.gz pmedia=satahd pdev=sda6 psubdir=dpup) and put this 3 files on a usb key.

2 boot from the usbkey
apply dpup482beta5-patch.pet but that don't match, i extract with pet2tgz dpup482beta5-patch.pet | tar -xvf dpup482beta5-patch.tar.gz and copy directly the files /

3 reboot ,ask for a save file, and save a save file Ok
ask for add dpup_devx_482.sfs
ignore user selection don't match! uncheck them add dpup_devx_482.sfs ok reboot
compiling work good
have you a dev file for ffmpeg-5 ?

very promising.
Great!

After applying the service pack patch to a 482 full install, I changed the icon set using Control Panel/Icons and the default icons did not change.

I then right-clicked on the desktop and the correct icons appeared but the Pwidgets that I had on my desktop disappeared. A left-click returned the default icon set and Pwidgets selections to the desktop. Subsequent left and right clicks does almost the same thing with one difference. The left-click brings back a mixture of default icons and the selected ones along with pwidgets on the desktop. Very unusual to see two different icon sets displayed. Since I am using wbar, the only icons showing are drives and trash can.

Jim

EDIT: Not a problem. The correct icon set showed up properly after a restart of x server. No more weird behavior as indicated above.

synaptic test

#309 Post by tubeguy »

First thing was a terminal apt-get update. Then opened synaptic from the menu and chose
•hydrogen (0.9.3-5.1)
Simple drum machine/step sequencer
•hydrogen-drumkits (0.9.3.20070703-1)
drumkits for Hydrogen
Synaptic dutifully began grabbing 122 files, about 180meg worth of stuff. But it looked interesting, I have a 6gig pupsave, and I'm a former drummer, so I went ahead to check it out. By now I'm having distro-hopping flashbacks. Went to the store for milk and Bears game munchies, came back and found
E: Internal Error, Could not perform immediate configuration (2) on libc6
Synaptic barked at me for not finishing when I tried to close so for grins I unchecked hydrogen-drumkits and got the same result. I think it's a version thing with libc6, I think gposil warned us about libraries. Gonna try some other pckgs after the game.

I just completed an experience eerily similar to tubeguy. I used Synaptic to install the Kazehakase browser. Synaptic dutifully downloaded the packages, and then I got the same error as in tubeguy's screenshot.

I went to where all the one hundred sixty three debs were stored, see my screenie, and manually installed all of them. Kazehakase does work, with a menu entry under "network" instead of "internet".

I'll try something else after the game as well..... :)

Using a full hd installation with dpup_devx_482 also installed, had same problem as above.

Tried to install Gramps, successfully downloaded 376 packages for it, however installation stopped with this error:
E: Internal Error, Could not perform immediate configuration (2) on libc6

Tried Amsn, same results as above.

Successfully added crosswire repositories, and Synaptic then showed current versions of Xiphos and Bibletime, however, neither could be selected for installation because needed dependencies were not available.

Incidently, thank you for the Bibletime 2.4.1 pet, it works somewhat on upup 482, however no icons show up on the toolbars. I posted a little more detail on http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 22&t=49716

I do not know what I am doing wrong, but when I try to set a background for Pwigets, I get "Pwigets_background contains no data"
I am using pwigets-2.2.1.pet.
As a result of this, I am using a backround from a picture I took.
So how do I get a pwigets background with the default Dpup background?

If I understand the problem:
Menu-Desktop-Pwidgets-Plugins-Sidebar
Choose an image, then chose side, click apply. At least that's how I do it.

I'm sneaking up on it, Kazehakase does work and I now have the menu entry in the correct location under "internet".

I do not have the devx installed yet, by the way.

Interesting..I should have mentioned that I do have it installed.

I ran petget libc6_2.7-18_i386.deb in a term and had no errors. I'm in the process of updating PPM to have all the debian stuff, taking a looooong time(see attached). I'm on a mission now to get hydrogen installed, I'm going to see if it will with PPM.

Been there, done that.
I am still getting the same message of "Pwigets_background contains no data"
Also, if I edit the calander file to show SUNDAY as the first day, and then bring up the pwigets menu and click Apply, it reverts to MONDAY and rewrites the calander file to the default.
So am I using the right Pwigets pet file?
I am using pwigets-2.2.1.pet.
I should mention that I had previously installed the pet for Upup and had to manually remove all the files from my Dpup_save file by mounting it in another version of Puppy.

OK a quick patch below for Synaptic, and to fix the libc6 problem, add testing repo to repositories and install libc6 (it will be 2.10.x) and that will fix the libc6 problem...the installed database is still not right but this little fix should cure the probs you have encountered so far...

We will switch to a new thread for Dpup-Synaptic Testing...http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=49790

BTW...one further point, when we get apt/synaptic fully integrated with Dpup, be aware that at this stage it is unaware of pets installed...the next step will be to convert pets to debs prior to installing with apt...
