Actually I said the problem would be "fixed" in the new release. See my previous post for how that has been achieved. :P
Great news that SeaMonkey mail will be in the final release! Thanks! :)

You can also install the SeaMonkey suite now with the gtk installer from the SeaMonkeys download page.

The annoying "woofwoof" login to CUPS has been eliminated by gray in the NOP 4.13 thread.

WhoDo :

Has this been fixed?

I am running a RC3 copy...
gave the newest away and haven't bothered burning another RC4 yet.

When you click on a m4a sound file
nothing plays and the run action is asked for.

If you drag a gxine icon it plays.
Can't we have this done by default.
I must reboot and check all the others but I'm sure they all play
but for this format.

Look not my type of music.
Why not try this site and download one song to test?

As far as I know...legit download.
Enjoy the noise.....although no worse than what you
have heard in the last few months.

Chris.

////////////////

OK! I rebooted

mp3 and wma work fine.

pmusic won't play m4a files
so I deleted that from the run action
and dragged in gxine.

Always works.

Plus I played the downloaded music file to also test.
Angry now...........................ears hurting.

The add icon feature is obviously a positive feature
for problems like this.

Thanks....................Chris.

Haven't posted in a while. I've tested a couple of releases and failed to comment on them.
Ever since using Xvesa every problem I've had has vanished.

Great work and a great release. Hope the Pwidgets issue is fixed soon.

I think I found a solution for the complaint of when pwidgets stop/start - the background is not found. Because maybe sigmund forgot to put tmp file by default or it supposed to be made at boot, but maybe failed to. Better to have it there by default.

Make a blank file /root/.pwidgets/tmp/wallpaper

Inside this file you put:
/usr/share/backgrounds/default.jpg

Also make sure you have the same in /root/.config/wallpaper/bg_image

That will make pwidgets know the default background at first boot, before user change the background. Turn off or on will not be a problem anymore.

Hope this helps. Thanks

Hey WhoDo want to start all over again and use dpup as a base without the bling?
It runs very fast, nothing like any other puppy before. The response times are excellent and Firefox 3/ Iceweasel is perfect. It took about 1hr to get the latest geany, abiword, l'orange theme, GXine was from the puppy repo, added the Seamonkey suite 1.15 I compiled. I guess it could be a maybe a base for puppy 5.0. I think it would be around 110MB with all the updated files. Due to the fact it comes with add gnome libs, etc due to the Debian heritage the only downside I see is no xvesa, Plus I didn't like the new package manager, I would probably like to see it more like a regular puppy, strip the base etc use our repo and compile the packages without the added gnome stuff. but keep the main base. Ok I think I off topic. again :)

Wifi is now the only problem I am having with RC4. My Broadcom is not recognised on boot. No problem as I can get it working through network manager as the modules I need are there. Big problem is the configuration is not saved, so I have to re-do the whole thing each time I boot. Oddly 4.0 was like this, but it was fixed in 4.1. Now it is back in 4.2 RC4. I am using a frugal install from a bootable USB. Any ideas please?
ps. Great about Claws out, seamonkey in.

I had the same problem. So I blacklisted (menu - system - boot manager - blacklist a module) bcm43xx, and use b43..reboot..and configuration still not saved, configure again, also I delete all things about wifi modules in menu - system - boot manager - give preference to one module over another, reboot again, and it's ok

Hope that helps

Thanks Trio, I will try that later.
ps: both interfaces are listed as eth, ie, eth0, eth1, wlan0 is not listed until I configure it manually by loading module. Puppy then searches and MOSTLY finds it :)

I'm pretty sure I set that mime-type for RC4, chris.

Pointless, I'm afraid. My brand new lappy doesn't have sound support! Even tempestuous couldn't help me get a peep out of it! It works ok from BIOS and in (yech) Vista, but no tweak has yet succeed for Puppy. I'm mortified because I can't even play Youtube videos and get any audio!

trio wrote:Pls see my latest post in pwidgets thread corcerning pwidgets at boot up, I let pwidgets decides itself when to render rather then preset sleep. Should cater best for slow and fast machines..try and if it works (test please) you might want use it.
It's too late to change things for 4.2, trio, but please keep this one available for the next version. I would have liked to include it but I don't dare take the risk breaking what is now a rock-solid release. Sorry, mate. :(

Still no luck thanks. Changes to blacklisting or module preferencing just dont seem to be saved after session. I guess configuration must be written back to a file somewhere? Can I edit this by hand?

You could try again one more time, really it worked for me!
As I said, it's saved on second boot.

Insert key in SeaMonkey issue

I did hit by accident the insert key and SeaMonkey closed. So the solution offered earlier isn't applied thus.

Could it be applied for the final?
