[quote="trapster"]Here's a classic text-based battleship game.
Compiled in 3.00retro.
Installs the file bs to /usr/local/bin.
Type bs in a console.

So you can compile in 3.0 retro but not in 3.0.1 retro? I usually compile in 3.0.1 and then save and reboot with 3.0.1 retro to install.

I built a lite 75mb version of "Fire Hydrant 3.0.1" Because older pc users needed something small to run on there pc's, But The 3.0.1 devx wouldn't compile, so basically I had to use 3.0.1 regular puppy to compile what I needed and switched over to retro. Was a pain but worked out nicely, Now I just found out by you that you can compile with 3.0 which I should of used as the source.trapster wrote:puppy-3.00-retro is what I use.
Where/why the 301 retro comment?????
I don't have that one.

Thank you ttuuxxx
I have added the breakout game as nr 8. There was a better looking breakout game in the top10, but the physics works better with the new one. Also, only 12kb
A-blast is also nice, but with the same size as Xgalaga, I wouldn't call it a true mini-game. - well, I guess we could disagree on that one

Seahaven Card Game
I just installed the Seahaven card game in Dingo that I downloaded from this forum as a pet.
I can't figure out how to reset the gaming record.
Is it possible to restore the gaming record back to zero, and if so how?

Thanks ttuuxxx.
Now I can bury my past and start life over with a simple deletion!!
I did look all over for documentation, including Sourceforge, and couldn't find any. I don't know much about games either.
This Forum continues to be a splendid help source. I am indeed appreciative of the caring, thoroughness, and cleverness of its many contributors. For me it is an integral part of the enjoyment I get from using Puppy. Thanks to all.

No problem Jackie its just a basic learning curve:) Just keep in mind for future settings most save a file to root/. <--- hidden location followed by a name, sometimes its a file and sometimes its a hidden folder. Just remember you can always just reinstall the program.jackieflorida wrote:Thanks ttuuxxx.

Oh ya try not to delete the defaults that come with puppy like /root/.xinitrc <-- if you delete that one, you won't be able to boot puppy.

This is just some info for anyone trying to get Frozen Bubble to work in Puppy 4.1.2.
I tried unsuccessfully to get it working and found, from the game website, that it will not work with the later version of Perl.
Since it worked with Puppy 3.01, and not the newer version, I checked and Perl has quietly been updated to a newer release.
I am not sure if the older version of Perl can be succesfully installed on Puppy 4.1.2 to replace the newer one.

The version I posted above works fine with 4.1, so it should work with 4.1.2. So maybe try that one8-bit wrote:This is just some info for anyone trying to get Frozen Bubble to work in Puppy 4.1.2.

Lol too many open threads, I must have around 30 forum threads open, talking about multitasking:) it was on another page, and it wasn't frozen bubble it was Xbubble lol8-bit wrote:TTUUXXX,
Are we talking about the same game here?
I can find no reference of you posting anything pertaining to Frozen Bubble.
If you point me in the right direction, I am willing to give it a try.

Frozen bubble is just crazy I have all sdl libs minus 1 perlsdl that uses mesa/OpenGl. I personally have tried the mesa OpenGl path before and its just a waste of time. Sorry but xbubble is pretty close and its a lot smaller
