Will v. 1.8 work on a 64-bit Puppy?

Also, are the results I saw what you'd expect?

The tiny new file size surprised me as when I reduce images manually, using GIMP, they are no where that small.

Thanks - David

I have attached the new 64-bit version.

I don't know what Gimp does. All that matters is the quality of the 800x600 image once it goes in the photo frame.

Thanks!

v. 1.8-64 works fine.

I didn't observe any differences in the output.

Hello there and happy new year!

I felt in love with Peasyscale while using Puppy Tahr. Now I switched to Xenial and installed it (pity that is not included in the basic installation) but it is not working: when I press "scale", an error message appears saying the file does not exist or, for a folder, that the file does not content any pictures. I tried with with different locations, pictures, folders.

Any idea? Thank you.

I just tested PeasyScale v2.0 (32bit) in a clean install of xenialpup-7.5-uefi.iso (32bit). It worked fine for me.

Run "peasyscale" from the command line and see what error messages it generates.

No reply after three days?

I will keep waiting patiently, like I am supposed to.

Meanwhile, fernan still has not replied. I guess that he deserves extra patience on our parts.

Hello rcrsn51,

Thank you for your reply and sorry for the delay.

This is what I see:

root# peasyscale
image-changer: error while loading shared libraries: libgdk-x11-2.0.so.0: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64
sh: line 1: echo: write error: Broken pipe
sh: line 1: 4006 Terminated Xdialog --title " " --no-buttons --infobox "$(eval_gettext 'Scaling $OUTFILE ...')" 0 0 60000
EXIT="abort"

Does it help?

Sounds like you're running Xenial 64 and need its compatibility libs loaded. 64?

Hello Semme,

yes, I do run Xenial 64 bits. What shall I do?

If you're running with a save file or folder, you want the first pkg here sitting in /mnt/home. From there it's rt-clk, SFS_Load.

132 Mo to get a mini app like Peasyscale to run... ;-) Is the compatibility problem very common so that I shall install it in any case ?

Thank you very much for your help.

Other distros are as big as they are because they include most libs end users are going to, sooner or later, encounter. Pup "shipped" is minimal and best as an exploratory OS. If you'll be running it as an everyday work station, you're gonna need LIBS!

I did it and it did not solve the problem:

I get:

root# peasyscale
image-changer: error while loading shared libraries: libgdk-x11-2.0.so.0: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64
sh: line 1: echo: write error: Broken pipe

and Peasyscale still says that the file doesn't exist or the directory doesn't contain pictures.

I typically avoid 64b Pups for reasons like this. As I'm unable to locate my 64b bootdisk you may need to wait for another player to respond. If I find it, I'll post back shortly..
