Technology is designed by humans and is therefore not infallible.

Also technology designed by one human may be out of the reach of another human to fix...I guess the idea behind FOSS is to avoid that but then again....nothings perfect :D

A, then B. In one post.

Give a summary of what to do, keep it as short as possible; then go through the details of why and how. It should have enough there that the OP can look at it if the short version doesn't work right, and a reader should be able to find the general principles that lead to the conclusion.

RTFM isn't nice or helpful (especially given Puppy's lack of manpages), but if the answer is there I'll go for something like "According to the manual (linky), (quote or reference)..."

Meh,

It's a free answer, advice and service. So if a smart a$$ answer.
I consider the source.
No body owes me anything in this world.

Besides.
If you are too sensitive for a abrasive forum answer.
I imagine real life must be a trial for you.
I got real thick skin like mikeb elephant.

So inappropriate only got 2 votes?
Me and another thick skinned forum member.

Well this thread has had some good answers. :)

I could be thick skinned and sensitive...tested today when helping to turn over this ridgid kayak and he turned the opposite way to what I thought he wanted...as it gouged its way over my forearm with its unfinished fibreglass edges I kept a smile on and admired the hieroglyphic tattoo it left afterwards :D

Bigpup does such an excellent job replying to folks/newbs with problems - short and sweet, direct, step-at-a-time walkthroughs - sussing out and remaining focused on the single most likely issue. Like this example post, linked below (and his next post, below that)...

A great benefit to the forum, bigpup. Appreciated by many, I'm sure - me included! 8)
