Cheers
nyu and all Japanese Puppy Friends,
That's a Great News.
Your Logo is very attractive. It has received a very high appreciation from many.
You and YoN have helped us in the early days of this thread to move forward and take its current shape.
Thank You once again and Cheers!

Of course notOn a different topic entirely, am I the only one who feels that this thread isn't the same without Swarup?
Do you know it has been 5 days?
Does anyone have contact with him/know how he is?
He must be feeling our love & concern for him, as I know this to be truly an unstoppable force on a grander scale
@ Rameshji
You are doing a lovely job on wikipedia, I think this may be a permanent feature there, rather than a developmental idea
it also seems easier to layout, though maybe we can simply delete our Puppy linux wiki one, and copy the model you are creating here
I have just had a reply from tom, suggesting a gizmo chat, but this can only occur when both are online, so I'll have to keep my eyes open
/aside I just posted a warning about didiwiki.org in the japanese puppy thread
@Irihapeti
I know what you mean about bits of paper, but I have attended talks where both are used
I was very impressed by the use of a laptop, a projector, [and some remote controller like a tv channel changer] and a laserpen, to go through a fairly technical website builder/ browser and flash based lecture with ease, but having paper in front of me definitely helped me with making my own additional notes
perhaps downloadable printer ready pages would be useful?
anyhow, future planning, methinks

ah, Swarupji, my friend,
You felt it, as I thought
It's most likely caused by too many hours in front of a monitor, I have had it happen also
I changed the refresh rate of my monitor as there seemed to be a beat effect between the refresh frequency and the mains frequency from the light, though shortly after replaced the monitor for a slightly larger one so that my eyes are not straining so much and it got better
The strange effect I used to get was after being at the computer, television was unbearable, as the whole picture started visibly jumping up & down very rapidly
Once that had started I turned off the television, and could not read a book for the same reason
Now I just limit myself to 22hrs a day instead of 35
Get well soon, and do not worry, it[the forum]/we will still be here
Try these for a while

On a previous topic, namely Scribus:
I've just downloaded and compiled the latest stable version of Scribus, i.e. 1.3.3.12, on Puppy 4.00 In fact, it's not all that stable, but the really frustrating thing is that, although scim-bridge will work with it, the Chinese characters I use for testing will not show in the main window, only in the text editor. This is exactly the same problem that Ramesh reported with vers. 1.2.4.1
So, at the moment we have the qt3 versions (1.3.3.12 and 1.2.4.1) which won't display non-latin characters, and the svn qt4 version (1.3.5) which will, at least on my system, but has other problems. We can but hope that the new version gets sorted out in due course.

Irihapeti,
A minor correction. Actually, Scribus 1.2.4.1 displays Indic text in the main and the edit windows.. However, the fonts are not rendered properly in the main window, whereas the edit window render them perfectly. It is in the later Scribus versions, that we are unable to see any text at all in the main window.

Ramesh:
I stand corrected. (We are good at correcting each other, aren't we. )
I don't think I was able to get any Chinese text to show in the Scribus 1.2.4.1 main window. Certainly, with the 1.3.3.12 version, the text doesn't show in the main window when I exit the text editor, and when I open the text editor again, all the characters have disappeared. I tried compiliing on a different Puppy and still the same problem.

What do you think?

Please don't tempt me with talk of cooking and recipes, or I'll have to come and visit - this is the most cruel thing about not being in India anymore
In UK 99.99% of Indian restaurants are not serving Indian cuisine at all, [they are invariably Bengali] and merely cater to people the worse for alcohol, and/or with neither tastebuds nor travel experience
I love the improved MLPup Dharma logo, do we need a vote or is it unanimous?
I note in your wiki you say
v1.09 is still useful for very old hardware with smaller ram, & which may suit low income/scrap project builds, and is available, [as is v2.02 - 2.10/11/14/R/15/16/17(If all links are working)] here:-
http://micro-hard.homelinux.net/puppy/
Indeed I believe the structure for v1 is already being reconsidered by BarryK for its simplicity
There are also within the various files early vmware files, which is another avenue to be considered, as many people, especially BruceB specialise in virtualizing various puppies using qemu/vm/xen etc
I am sorry I have made no progress with tombh, I haven't spotted him online at the same time as me, so no improvement to the community wiki, as yet - I hope it won't become redundant !
The improvements you have done in wikipedia are superb, but it is, IMHO, in need of some graphics, even small ones, to break up the words, maybe?
Hope you don't mind my constructive comment/criticism?

Thank You very much for your appreciation of the Logo. However, we may wait for some more time for it to evolve, shall we?
Our Puppy WIKI Folks are in the initial days of designing and handling WIKI. So, let's wait and let our initial writeup remain there in Puppy WIKI - no need to panic. Meanwhile, we shall keep fine-tuning our Wikipedia WIKI and share this with Hairy Will, Tombh and other Puppy WIKI folks and request them to give us "such and such" features for us in Puppy WIKI too at the earliest time possible.
What do you think?
Aitchji,
Please Please Please KEEP UP your constructive criticism. They are like the great life giving Nelli Fruit (Amla - Indian Gooseberry), which may taste bitter initially but remains sweet for the infinity.
Graphics for our WIKI - I am exploring and they are due already heading to break the textual monotony.

Celtx
Dear David, Nathan F, Irihapeti,
It would be really great to have Celtx in Puppy. Can you please help?
http://www.celtx.com/download.html
Thank You Aitchji for the Celtx and of course Pecha Kucha Links.
Time has come to explore them all and more.

Friends
I have downloaded the windoze version of Celtx to have a look at, and it has some interesting features, offering projects in Film, AV, Theatre, Audio Play, Storyboard, Comic Book, & Text
The language issue seems to be in the form of 1 language per download, many (20?) choices available, but not, it seems, Indic!
On the text only mode, which I sampled, attached, it only offers a celtx format file to open as a project, but pasting can be done OK, and there is a search within page function, dictionary & spellcheck
Also there is no point size for font/script, only larger/smaller options, and I tried pasting in in different font sizes but I'm not sure it adhered to my selections
There is a useful video feature tour/helpfile system available, and especially useful is the shared project feature, after logging on to Celtx server, which can be public or private/permission access
The beauty of this is collaborative projects can be worked on and shared cross platform, Win/Mac/Linux!
Perhaps projects could be saved to filefront upload?
http://uploadhosted.filefront.com/
A warning - by default it tries to send a ping to the Celtx server at startup, (to determine how many Celtx users are logged on, they say!) this can be turned off, though [which I would advise]
Celtx wiki, here

It looks quite interesting, so hopefully, it can be made into a pup!
Note: the visible clock is my ebay timer, as I'm in the middle of bidding
